Chapter 103: A Peaceful Parting
“Are you going to kill me?”
Liu Xiao adjusted her glasses and took a step back, looking at the young man before her.
Throughout the recent fight, she had merely observed from a distance, watching silently.
“Miss, you’re lucky. I still had other matters to attend to just now, so you’ll have to wait your turn.”
With that, Qin Feng bent down, grabbed the man’s trembling right hand, and dragged him toward the door.
Ji Linmo struggled to get up, but the kick he had just received was so brutal that the pain left him unable to stand.
“Mr. Ji Linmo, I’m sorry. I will pray for your soul.”
Wearing glasses with gold rims, Liu Xiao almost without hesitation turned and fled.
Qin Feng watched her run away and smiled.
“See, Mr. Ji, as a beast, I am very lenient.”
“Of course, not so much with you.”
Qin Feng dragged Ji Linmo’s shattered right hand and then stomped on the man’s left hand again.
His sneaker lightly crushed the man’s fingers.
But Ji Linmo no longer cared about the pain. Anxiously, he asked,
“Qin Feng, what do you mean by sparing Lin Bufe’s life?”
“I saw with my own eyes that you stabbed him.”
The young man paused his movements, a faint smile playing on his lips.
“I thought you might have a question.”
“That’s right, he was stabbed, but does that mean he’s dead?”
Ji Linmo frowned.
He recalled the scene from the previous mission, where Lin Bufe was stabbed. Blood had indeed soaked his chest, and at that moment, he had heard Lin Bufe’s breath cease.
“Hah... lies.”
“Even if Lin Bufe didn’t die then... later he would...”
Qin Feng tilted his head and lifted Ji Linmo’s limp, noodle-like right hand.
“Mr. Ji, I don’t like Lin Bufe, but I didn’t kill him. Since you care for him, I spared his life.”
“However, I really underestimated how much this would affect you.”
“Honestly, Mr. Ji, if I died one day, would you do the same?”
Saying this, Qin Feng squatted down and leisurely straightened Ji Linmo’s clothes.
Ji Linmo looked at the young man before him and frowned.
“Y-you really didn’t kill Lin Bufe?”
He knew Lin Bufe’s life was always tenacious. If the young man truly held back, Lin Bufe probably played dead to avoid further harm.
“Qin Feng, did you want to kill Lin Bufe just because he spoke ill of you?”
From beginning to end, Ji Linmo could not understand Qin Feng’s mindset.
Whether it was during the last mission, when he intended to kill “Girl Xuanxuan,” or when he stabbed Lin Bufe—
he just couldn’t comprehend.
Was this young man even normal?
None of his actions could be understood through the lens of a normal person’s reasoning.
“Mr. Ji, you haven’t answered my question.”
The youth looked meaningfully at the man.
“If I died, would you cry for me?”
Ji Linmo lifted his head and answered without hesitation.
“No, because my tear glands were unfortunately eaten by a dog.”
“By the way, I might even celebrate if some strange kid died.”
Qin Feng wasn’t angry at this response; instead, he smiled brightly.
It seemed he was delighted to hear the word “kid” from the man’s tone once more.
“We should go home, brother.”
Ji Linmo barely had time to resist before the young man grabbed his arm and dragged him all the way home.
Back at home, Ji Linmo looked at his right hand and realized the situation was troublesome.
With such a severe fracture, he couldn’t heal on his own.
The only solution was to transform back into a monster, then back into a human again.
Or find some sub-mission item capable of healing injuries.
Ji Linmo pressed his hand on the floor and slowly sat up, covering his face.
Not from pain, but from relief.
Thank goodness Lin Bufe wasn’t dead.
If that kid had died, he wouldn’t have been able to explain it to his girlfriend.
Not dead was good...
Though they might die eventually, it absolutely couldn’t be from such a ridiculous cause.
Killed by a teammate’s stab? What kind of way to die is that?
“Are you crying, Mr. Ji?”
Qin Feng called out from nearby.
Ji Linmo turned to look at the young man, who was busy with something not far away, seemingly preparing something in the kitchen.
His eyes darkened.
—Lacking empathy, emotionally unstable, petty, vengeful—
The young man before him was a ticking time bomb.
Even though this time he had gotten lucky and not exploded, sooner or later, someone insulting him would trigger a massacre.
“Qin Feng, are you an illegitimate child?”
Ji Linmo’s sudden question caught Qin Feng off guard.
“What did you say?”
“I asked if you’re an illegitimate child.” Ji Linmo’s voice was calm, just loud enough for the two of them to hear.
“At first, when I met you, I was told by someone outside to take you away.”
“So I’ve always suspected you might be the child of a high-ranking official.”
Qin Feng looked at Ji Linmo’s serious expression and couldn’t help but laugh.
Rarely did he clutch his stomach and laugh out loud.
“You... Mr. Ji, you don’t need to joke with me about such things.”
Ji Linmo’s face remained expressionless as he studied the young man, then spoke slowly.
“I accepted the mission and indirectly agreed, Qin Feng.”
“But you... you really make things difficult. You are almost without any order, and I can’t figure out your motives at all.”
Ji Linmo felt he needed to have a serious talk with the young man.
After all, Qin Feng’s identity seemed far more complicated than he had thought.
—Immune to physical damage, non-human—
The youth’s identity was a secret even Ji Linmo couldn’t touch, and combined with his almost irrational personality, he really had to consider whether to get involved.
He had a feeling that following this young man would drag him into unpredictable trouble.
“Mr. Ji, what do you mean by that?”
“My meaning is simple—I want to talk with you.”
Ji Linmo quickly raised his hands in surrender. His arm was broken, and at this point, going along with the young man was the best strategy.
“Qin Feng, do you have some obsession with me?”
“I have a feeling you want to be teammates with me again, and if I refuse, you might try every means to threaten me.”
Ji Linmo furrowed his brows and tried to keep his tone gentle, not wanting to provoke him.
“So... let’s talk it out.”
“Why are you so fixated on me? With your abilities, missions shouldn’t be very dangerous to you.”
“And believe me, if you want, you can find companions you like.”
Qin Feng slowly turned his head to look at Ji Linmo, smiling brightly.
“Mr. Ji, are you planning to part ways with me on good terms?”
