Chapter 73 Ji Linmo, You Must Listen to Reason
After Lin Bufei finished speaking, he paid no attention to Qin Feng’s reaction. He pressed his palms together, seized the other’s hand, and shook it vigorously.
“I was just wondering—Ji Linmo has always liked to act alone, always saying he never needs teammates. How did he suddenly get one?”
“But the moment I saw you, handsome, I understood. Not only are you clever and brave, but you’re also strikingly good-looking. No wonder Ji Linmo wanted you as a teammate!”
Such effusive praise left Ji Linmo, standing to the side, feeling a bit embarrassed.
But Lin Bufei was always like this—he cared nothing for appearances, and whenever he met anyone, he’d flatter them to the heavens, turning even flattery into an art.
“You flatter me too much,” the young man replied, his smile returning as he squinted at Lin Bufei and then waved to him of his own accord.
Clearly, Lin Bufei’s words had pleased him.
“Mr. Ji, this fellow is quite interesting. Who is he?” the young man asked.
“He’s Lin Bufei, an old classmate of mine. It’s rare to run into him, so we’re catching up,” Ji Linmo explained.
Qin Feng smiled, gesturing toward the diners to indicate that he’d already secured a vacant seat over there.
A vacant seat?
Ji Linmo hadn’t noticed any open spots, but Qin Feng was already heading into the crowd.
Just as he was about to follow the young man, someone suddenly grabbed his arm.
It was Lin Bufei.
Ji Linmo turned to see Lin Bufei, his skin tanned and his frame robust, holding his arm tightly and shaking his chin ever so slightly.
“Ji Linmo… that kid just now, where did you find him?” Lin Bufei stared intently at Qin Feng’s retreating figure, his gaze dark and inscrutable.
“What’s wrong?” Ji Linmo shifted his gaze to Lin Bufei.
The scar-faced man, usually so nonchalant, now wore an unexpectedly serious expression.
“Ji Linmo, you should end your partnership with him as soon as you can.”
“I think there’s something off about that kid… There’s a sense of danger around him that I can’t quite explain, but it makes my hair stand on end.”
Ji Linmo was caught off guard by this baffling statement.
What was wrong with Lin Bufei now?
“Danger? You’ve only just met him, why would you say that?”
Lin Bufei rubbed his chin, thought for a moment, then looked up at Ji Linmo with a grave expression and shrugged.
“It’s not what I think—it’s my male intuition!”
At this, Ji Linmo gave Lin Bufei a playful smack on the shoulder and couldn’t help but laugh.
“Oh, your male intuition? You coward, what are you not afraid of?”
“Qin Feng may be odd, but he’s just an eighteen-year-old student. No matter how dangerous, what could he possibly do to me?”
With that, Ji Linmo waved his hand, signaling Lin Bufei to hurry up and follow.
“Hey, hey! Ji Linmo, don’t ignore my advice. My intuition is never wrong!”
Upstairs in the dining area, the aroma of food filled the air.
Qin Feng, calm and composed, walked up to a diner eating a hamburger, lowered his head, and spoke gently.
“Excuse me, would you please give me your seat?”
The diner instantly bared his sharp steel teeth and glared at him.
“Hell, who do you think you—”
But halfway through his sentence, the diner caught sight of the young man’s face and his eyes went wide, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.
It was that same young man from before!
“Ah… please, take our table, take all the seats…”
With that, the steel-toothed diner hurriedly pulled his companions to their feet.
His friends were baffled, but seeing his terrified face, they obediently vacated the seats.
“Brother Leopard, what’s wrong? I’ve never seen you this scared before.”
Brother Leopard shuddered, his mind replaying the earlier scene.
—Half an hour ago, this young man had revealed himself as a human and enticed everyone to devour him.
As the crowd fought for the chance at his flesh and blood, someone suddenly shouted that they should stop fighting and kill the boy first, then divide up the meat.
At that instant, everything changed.
“Ah… Mr. Ji has left,” the young man with eyes like peach blossoms sighed softly.
He lifted his head, surveying the predatory, eager demons surrounding him. Suddenly, he laughed, looking at the diner who had made the suggestion.
“Was it you who said you wanted to kill me first and share me afterward?”
“What a wonderful idea.”
With that, the young man raised his hand and pointed at the demon-diner, a fleeting red light shining in his smiling eyes.
“You’re human.”
His voice was low and commanding, as if the demon-diner really was human.
“You’re human.”
“I said, you are human.”
As he repeated the words three times, the other diners’ expressions shifted dramatically. It was as if the young man had become invisible, and they all lunged at the one labeled human with murderous ferocity.
Amid the agonized screams, the demon-diner was torn to pieces by the others.
Brother Leopard, watching the horrific and bizarre scene from nearby, stumbled back in terror.
What was happening? Why did everyone believe the one who spoke up was human and devour him? Couldn’t they see the young man standing right before them?
The dark floor was stained red with blood. In the eerie crimson light, the young man’s handsome face was splattered with gore.
Straight-backed, he slowly turned his head, expressionless.
He had been seen!
Brother Leopard collapsed to the ground in fright.
But the young man did not move; instead, he extended his index finger and suddenly beamed, his smile dazzling.
He pressed his finger to the corner of his lips and squinted at Brother Leopard.
“Hush~”
Brother Leopard snapped back to his senses as his companion tugged hard at his sleeve.
“Brother Leopard, tell us—why did we have to give up our seats to that boy?”
Brother Leopard dared not utter another word. Covering his mouth, terrified he might let something slip, he fled from the second floor.
“Mr. Ji, over here!” Qin Feng called, having secured a seat. He waved at Ji Linmo not far away, his legs swinging idly from the bench.
Ji Linmo smiled to himself, surprised that the boy had really found a spot.
He beckoned Lin Bufei to join him, and as soon as Lin Bufei sat down, he briskly cleared the table of its mess.
“What do you guys want to eat? I have an employee card, so it’s easy to buy food. Better eat well while we’re still alive.”
Qin Feng shook his head, then looked to Ji Linmo.
Seeing that Ji Linmo had no particular preference, Lin Bufei volunteered to go buy something random and left the table.
“Qin Feng, you’re not hurt, are you?” Ji Linmo asked quietly, looking Qin Feng up and down.
“You covered for me just now, letting all those people surround you… Are you alright?”
