Chapter 85 Fairy Sister

After a brief silence, Ji Linmo gazed at Qin Feng with a blank expression, his tone growing heavier.

“Qin Feng, do you really think this is a good thing?”

The handsome young man broke into a radiant smile, playfully tugging at Ji Linmo’s cheek.

“Mr. Ji, if I had such an opportunity, I'd relish it without hesitation.”

“But next, are you planning to meet that woman in red?”

The sudden task notification made Ji Linmo freeze mid-sentence. The task was already completed. It seemed the real requirement was simply to locate the girl, not to bring her back to the woman in red.

“It seems there's no need…”

Ji Linmo lowered his gaze.

Qin Feng, noticing the prompt in front of Ji Linmo, let out a soft chuckle.

“Oh, Mr. Ji, look, how lucky we are—the task is already done.”

“Now, all we need is to find the remaining side clues, and we can leave this dungeon. I'm quite looking forward to it~”

Freed from the rules’ constraints, Ji Linmo no longer had a reason to risk his life meeting the woman in red or telling her where her daughter was.

A sharp, wailing cry suddenly shattered his words.

The entire fourth floor shook violently.

The iron door embedded in the wall rattled fiercely. The girl, Xuanxuan, no longer resembling a human, screamed with a childish but violent voice.

Something was wrong—someone was coming!

Ji Linmo’s hearing was excellent; amidst the shrill screams, he caught the sound of hurried footsteps.

He was too close to the door to hide, so he grabbed Qin Feng and ducked into the nearby bathroom.

Whether intentional or not, Qin Feng’s hand pulled him backward, and both tumbled into the bathtub together.

Water splashed everywhere.

Ji Linmo glanced at his now wet clothes, raised an eyebrow, and glared at Qin Feng.

But the youth merely reached out, covering Ji Linmo’s mouth with a playful smile.

“Hush~”

The main door was pushed open, forcing Ji Linmo to abandon their argument and conceal himself carefully, squeezing next to Qin Feng as they peered outside.

Several security guards—monstrous ghosts in uniform—carried a black sack toward the iron door in the wall.

“Rabbit meat! It’s rabbit meat!”

The girl’s cries grew more urgent as the guards cautiously opened the door, then, in a flash, tossed the entire sack inside.

Ji Linmo clearly saw, as the sack’s mouth opened, chunks of red meat spilled out—indeed rabbit meat.

The sack itself looked much like those used in the second-floor “Delicious Rabbit Meat” shop’s kitchen.

“Tasty… so tasty…”

Chewing sounds echoed behind the iron door, followed by the girl’s deafening demands.

The guards, well-practiced, threw in another sack, brimming with rabbit meat.

A loud burp followed, and from the dark iron door slowly emerged two empty sacks and a lump of vomit-like substance. The guards sighed in relief.

“Something’s wrong! The taste is worse than usual! Worse than usual!”

No sooner had the words faded than a long, blood-red tongue, wet and glistening, snaked out from the door, wrapping around the guard who had fed her rabbit meat and slammed him hard from above.

Crunch!

With a faint snap of breaking bones, the ghostly security guard’s body, crushed by the tongue, splattered onto the floor in a bloody mess.

Yet the other guards showed no surprise; they simply closed the iron door and routinely dragged away their comrade’s corpse.

As the guards departed, Ji Linmo suddenly noticed something and leapt from the bathtub.

“It’s changed…”

He ran his hand over the tub.

Moments before, it had cracks; now it was pristine.

Even the props in the adjacent dissection room, once stained with blood, were suddenly spotless.

“So that's why the mall never needs restocking—it instantly resets…”

Ji Linmo’s eyes darkened as he swept his gaze across the fourth floor. He walked along the wall, counting his steps.

From the left wall to the right, his steps were noticeably more than at first.

The entire fourth floor had grown larger!

“Rabbit meat… it’s feed!”

Ji Linmo realized abruptly. He picked up a sack from the floor and checked its contents; inside, one piece of “rabbit meat” remained.

The translucent red chunk pulsed as if it were breathing, alive.

The rules forbid players from leaving the mall.

But they never said the mall couldn’t leave the players!

“In other words, if we stand at the farthest edge and stay put, as the mall shrinks, we’ll be carried out automatically.”

With that, Ji Linmo bundled the clues he had just gathered and tossed them, along with the key card, to Qin Feng.

Instantly, a prompt appeared before both of them.

Qin Feng smiled, pulling Ji Linmo’s hand and gently pressing his butterfly knife into the man’s palm.

“If we wish, we can leave now—why risk it?”

Ji Linmo frowned.

He knew Qin Feng was right, but for some reason, he felt uneasy. The youth before him seemed unusually eager to kill the monster Xuanxuan had become.

“Qin Feng, you seem awfully impatient.”

“No, not at all. But if you insist on courting trouble, I’ll just obediently follow you~”

Qin Feng stuck out his tongue playfully.

Ji Linmo said nothing more, needing time to consider the best course of action. He signaled Qin Feng to follow, striding away.

But as Ji Linmo stepped through the door, a whisper instantly wiped the smile from Qin Feng’s face.

“Ah, it’s the fairy… Fairy sister…”

“Fairy sister, have you come to see me?”

Inside the iron door, a pair of swirling eyeballs peered through the gap, softly calling out to Qin Feng.
