Chapter 110: The Rise of a Nation through Misaligned Technology, Part 25
After receiving the delivery, Mu Yin set up a barrier array in her room to block out demonic energy. She then arranged a Five Elements Living Spirit Formation around the perimeter using spirit stones and began studying purification arrays.
Within talismans, there were purification symbols; within arrays, purification formations; and from her past life, purification incantations. Since her previous life only involved simple chants without runes, she hadn’t included those in her references. She first extracted the purification formation and the purification talisman to compare their differences.
Both runes and array patterns evolved from divine patterns, but due to their differing natures, the two types of patterns exhibited variations beyond their core designs.
By comparing the two, she identified several core similar patterns that likely represented the essence of purification. Reflecting on this, she took out divine pattern rubbings—not to memorize them, but to study. Next, she searched for divine patterns related to the soul.
She also gathered purification-related runes and other runes. Unable to memorize them, she painstakingly compared each one, eventually matching all the core patterns with their corresponding divine patterns.
She compared these core patterns one by one and finally discerned how to modify the purification formation. Moreover, she discovered a method to condense purified demonic energy into soul pearls. Wasting no time, she immediately began her research.
“What is she doing?” After that, Mu Yin secluded herself. Liao Changyun, not knowing how spiritual cultivators train in the Demon Domain—a place thick with demonic energy—stood stunned for a moment. He had thought she was trying to sneak out, but it turned out she just bought some supplies and then went into seclusion.
“Your subordinate is not sure,” replied the Left Protector of the Demon Palace.
“Let’s go see.”
Once Mu Yin had purchased all the materials she might need online, she began her secluded research. Essentially, she was creating a new soul purification array or talisman, which required constant verification. After all, it involved linking several divine patterns together effectively.
At first, Mu Yin based her work on an existing purification array, attempting to convert the all-encompassing purification patterns into patterns that purified soul energy. It was frustrating and slow going, with no shortcuts—she had no choice but to correct her mistakes bit by bit, causing countless symbolic explosions.
Eventually, Mu Yin gradually discerned the underlying principles. By drawing with her spiritual power, she could slowly sketch the correct forms, refining her control over her spiritual force. “Yes! It worked!” When the talisman she drew flickered with a burst of light before settling, she was so excited she nearly jumped up, shouting with joy.
“What succeeded?” came a deep, magnetic male voice.
Startled, Mu Yin turned to see Liao Changyun entering. Hadn’t she set an array restriction?
“That restriction won’t stop me,” Liao Changyun said as he approached her. Looking around, he found the room a complete mess, as if bombed—charred marks everywhere, with only a single finished talisman on the table. “Is this it?”
“Don’t touch it!” Mu Yin quickly stopped him. With only one finished product, she wanted to study it carefully.
“What kind of talisman is this? Did you create it? I’ve never seen anything like it,” Liao Changyun said, evading her hand and picking up the talisman.
“Yeah, I made it. Give it back!” Mu Yin lunged to grab it. This would be her treasure in the future.
“What’s it for?” Liao Changyun raised his hand, keeping it out of her reach—he was taller and had longer limbs.
Mu Yin didn’t cling to him but jumped lightly, easily snatching the talisman. “Hmph, I’m not telling you.” She wasn’t about to reveal that this talisman could purify demonic energy into pure soul energy, and with some modifications to the array, she could cultivate her soul using soul pearls.
“Purify demonic energy? Soul pearls?” Liao Changyun was surprised, having heard her thoughts.
“You’re eavesdropping on my mind again!” Mu Yin suddenly remembered he could read minds and felt annoyed.
“Does this really purify demonic energy into pure soul energy?” Liao Changyun pressed.
“It’s just a research direction, not tested yet, so I’m not sure,” Mu Yin replied, somewhat displeased that she couldn’t hide the truth.
“Let’s go test it outside,” Liao Changyun said, seemingly having an idea, then grabbed Mu Yin to leave.
“Wait, this is just the talisman. The array isn’t completed yet,” Mu Yin said, stopping herself firmly. She wouldn’t let him just drag her off like that.
“Then hurry up,” Liao Changyun paused, then released her and sat down. Before settling, he cast a cleansing spell, instantly tidying much of the chaos, though the blackened scars and craters from explosions remained. “Or maybe you should switch rooms?”
“No need. Just leave,” Mu Yin said firmly, wanting him gone.
Eventually, Liao Changyun left. After a while, Mu Yin emerged, holding a special array disk she had crafted. It could purify demonic energy and also absorb, condense, and store the evolved soul energy.
She found Liao Changyun, who led her to the place with the densest demonic energy—the Black Sea, where the initial portal had appeared. The area was deserted, with flora and fauna all corrupted by the intense demonic energy.
Mu Yin had to use a device to seal herself off from the demonic energy; otherwise, she would be infected. The feeling was like uncontrollable emotions—a maddening urge to lash out, as if perpetually on the edge of frenzy.
She had intended to test the talisman there but almost lost her mind. Thankfully, Liao Changyun helped her. She dared not proceed without protection, so she took out the device, activated it to block the demonic energy, then chose a spot to set up the array disk.
She also took out some blank inner cores from magical beasts. She discovered that after consuming their energy through special methods, these cores could be inscribed to store runes and thus store energy of any attribute.
This time, she wanted to see if it could store soul energy—or more accurately, spiritual energy, which was a form of soul energy. After arranging the array, she activated it and felt a soul-cleansing energy radiate, clearing her mind of chaotic thoughts and leaving only tranquility.
Liao Changyun experienced this improved purification array for the first time. To his surprise, it immediately eased his body and dispelled the uncontrollable sensations within him, as if shackles had been removed. The constant pressure that had weighed on him vanished.
He glanced at Mu Yin, impressed by her abilities. With this array, even inner demons might not infect him—though he wasn’t sure if this foolish girl realized the extent of what she had accomplished.
