Chapter 37: Transforming into an Idol 8
Thinking of her superpower, whose level seemed to drop the more it was upgraded, Muyin couldn't help feeling depressed. "Muxi, Muxi, I've got ten fans now. Let's record another video!" Luo Qing's voice rang out from outside the door.
"Come in." While thinking about other matters, Muyin searched the headline news for information about this world. Most of it was about the combat-type heroes—well, they were called heroes, or supernatural beings.
"Muxi, I saw your account. You've got over a dozen fans now, too!" Luo Qing walked in, executed her signature flat-ground stumble, and then stood right back up as if nothing had happened, smiling at Muyin. The smartphone in her hand displayed Muyin's account. "I'm following you now."
"Mm." Muyin calmly glanced at Luo Qing. Actually, this girl was quite a marvel; she had managed to survive from childhood to the present day with a miraculous constitution that guaranteed a fall every five meters.
"Everyone says the song cover is really nice and hopes you'll release new tracks. Oh, they even requested a song. Huh? *The Queen*? I remember that song is one of those love ballads where the woman is strong and the man is weak." Luo Qing browsed through the comments, looking quite pleased, before turning slightly surprised upon seeing a fan's song request.
Muyin casually opened the school's music library, searched for *The Queen*, and listened to it. The song was good, except... why did it feel somewhat suggestive? She glanced at Luo Qing, her expression instantly shifting, and said, "I refuse."
"Eh, this song is pretty good though," Luo Qing replied with an air of pure innocence.
"I refuse. Besides, have you figured out how we're going to complete this month's assignment?" This month's task was to form a rock band.
The standard components of a rock band include a lead vocalist, one or more backing vocalists, a rhythm guitarist, a lead guitarist, a bassist, a drummer, and a keyboardist.
Heh, Muyin figured they were probably doomed this time. After all, between the two of them, they could handle lead and backing vocals, guitars, and bass. Drums and keyboards weren't an issue either since, although Muyin didn't play many instruments initially, she learned them quickly. The problem was that they didn't have enough people.
Most students in the school who excelled at those instruments already had groups, and even if they didn't, the two of them couldn't recruit them. Mentioning this made Luo Qing distressed as well. She had learned the guitar and had a decent voice, but the one thing the school never lacked was vocalists and guitarists.
On the contrary, things were a bit simpler for Muyin. She played guitar and had studied traditional drums; after watching a few tutorial videos, she could play the drum kit quite decently. Therefore, she could actually find a team—it was just impossible if she had to drag Luo Qing along with her.
Cough, this girl could trip and fall flat on her face even while jumping with a guitar, making Muyin wonder several times if she had chosen the wrong person. Perhaps she should have invested in someone else; it might have been more reliable. Well, she could definitely rule Luo Qing out as the female protagonist.
She wasn't a transmigrator, that much was certain. Furthermore, female protagonists typically possessed evolving or transforming abilities, which this girl clearly lacked. However, she did possess the standard traits of a heroine: a beautiful singing voice and physical coordination akin to a disabled person. How much she resembled a loser heroine from an anime! Perhaps this girl was the original Daughter of Destiny.
This was the exact reason why Muyin had chosen Luo Qing. After all, if she really was the original Daughter of Destiny, she would at least carry the treatment of a protagonist. It was a pity her fortune had been crushed by the plot. Since Muyin couldn't tell for sure, she could only give it a try first. If things really didn't work out, she would switch partners—she wasn't that stubborn.
In the end, the two of them began searching for partners on the school forum. Apart from a few individuals preparing to debut as a group, most other idol trainees were solos, though idols were more likely to debut in groups eventually.
Generally speaking, after a particular group-themed assignment, as long as the teammates clicked well, the group would continue to develop. Even outside of specific themes, they could still perform together as a group.
Consequently, most of those left on their own preferred not to be restricted by a team, though they might have two or three friends to temporarily team up with. Those who remained afterward were truly the misfits.
After much effort, the two found teammates through online recruitment. When they arrived and saw those people, both of them fell silent. Speaking of which, Idol Academy had quite a few misfits.
Take Muyin, for instance—the original owner was a chronic truant and the bottom-ranking student. Then there was Luo Qing, that peculiar existence who could trip on flat ground. And now, their five new teammates were likewise the academy's notable misfits.
There was Shou Tianshan, the arrogant and impatient young heiress. It was said that this young heiress came from a very prominent background and had an exceptionally talented combat-type older brother. She was a true heiress through and through, overbearing and willful, prone to snapping at people over the slightest disagreement.
Then there was Ye Shao, a towering giant of a boy standing two meters tall. How should one describe him? He had a rugged exterior paired with a shy inner self. The resulting effect was a tough-guy appearance combined with a sissified demeanor. Moreover, his voice matched his personality, intensifying that effeminate vibe. Actually, being effeminate wasn't a huge deal, but the problem was that his outer appearance was like Li Kui's; the visual combination was nothing short of tragic.
Then there was Li Huan, a very handsome young man over there. He possessed a cold, aloof personality, striking looks, and good grades. The reason he was considered a weirdo was that he possessed wind-element attack powers, yet he chose to enter Idol Academy—the worst place for practical abilities. How could he not be a weirdo? But someone so popular shouldn't have needed to hunt for teammates like this, right?
Next was the cute girl Ke Tian. Her name was sweet, her appearance was exceedingly sweet, and her height was about the same as Luo Qing's. However, this girl was a veritable strongwoman—the kind who could effortlessly lift over five hundred pounds. Thus, her diminutive frame packed terrifying destructive power; she had once caused a stage to literally collapse during a performance, making her a legend among the academy's oddities.
Finally, there was that handsome person named Yun Ruolan. The name sounded somewhat feminine, but this excessively handsome individual was indeed female. Unfortunately, she had masculine facial features and was exceptionally dashing, almost winning the title of school hunk. The reason she was considered weird wasn't because of her looks, but because she liked girls.
"Tch, why did I have to run into a bunch like you? I feel like we might as well just give up on this month," Shou Tianshan spoke first, her opening remark dripping with sarcasm.
Since they had recruited teammates online, once the roster was finalized, the temporary team could not be changed for at least a month. That was why Shou Tianshan made such a remark.
"I-I'm sorry," Ye Shao's stern, handsome face instantly flushed with embarrassment as he twisted his hands together. That coy posture was truly an eyesore.
A flash of disgust crossed Shou Tianshan's eyes, and just as she was about to speak, someone else beat her to it. Luo Qing smiled and said, "Since we were able to become teammates, it's a sort of fate."
Muyin also chimed in, "Time is precious. We'd better get started quickly."
