Chapter 61 Awakening
"Master, are you awake?"
The young man cried out anxiously as he looked at the old man's body.
"Master, can you hear me?"
"Master, Master, wake up!"
The boy's helpless voice echoed through the dim cave, but unfortunately, the old man remained completely unresponsive.
"Oh, right!"
"The medicine!"
The boy suddenly snapped to his senses. He hurriedly helped the old man up and tried to pour the medicine from his bowl into the old man's mouth.
*Gulp! Gulp! Gulp!*
Seeming quite practiced, the boy managed to feed all the medicine into the old man's mouth in no time.
With the boy continuously patting the old man's back, the old man finally swallowed the medicine down.
"Cough, cough..."
Suddenly, a fit of coughing broke the silence.
"You little rascal, are you trying to choke me to death?"
Just as Chen Xian regained his consciousness, he heard a young voice tinged with tears sounding by his ear.
His mind also recovered its perception at this moment, and Chen Xian could clearly feel his body once again.
However, no matter how hard Chen Xian tried, he couldn't open his eyes. It felt as though a massive mountain was pressing down upon his eyelids.
At the same time, countless waves of pain surged from every corner of his body into his mind, leaving Chen Xian momentarily numb.
In Chen Xian's perception, there was not a single part of his body that did not ache.
Had he not been choked, prompting a survival instinct that granted him a sliver of strength, it was doubtful he would have been able to wake up fully anytime soon.
Just then, the old man who had been lying on the ground suddenly sat straight up. As he surveyed his surroundings, a sharp glint flashed through his eyes.
"This is..."
Chen Xian looked around at the environment with confusion and muttered to himself.
"Master, you're awake!"
The boy exclaimed in pleasant surprise. Looking at the master before him, tears welled up uncontrollably in his eyes.
"Yes, I'm awake."
Chen Xian smiled, but the expression on his face froze a split second later.
"Master, what's wrong? Don't scare your disciple like this!"
Seeing the strange look on his master's face, the young man wore an expression of deep worry.
"Cough, cough. It's nothing, just that these injuries are truly too severe and rather grueling to deal with."
Chen Xian gave a few coughs, a solemn expression flashing in his eyes.
The injuries to this body were exceptionally grave. An ordinary person would have died long ago, but it was not so easy for him to perish.
While the physical trauma was severe, the most critical issue was that the spirit of this body had suffered irreversible damage.
By now, the original spirit of this body had completely dissipated, which was precisely why Chen Xian did not feel any profound discomfort from that specific injury. Of course, the most crucial factor behind this was likely the miraculous nature of the Innate Mirror Dao.
Looking around, Chen Xian realized he was inside a cave, with the surrounding ground littered with weeds.
With his entire body grievously wounded, Chen Xian could not afford to dwell on other matters. With a single thought, he began to manipulate his Qi and blood to repair the physical damage to his body.
Although he had changed bodies and lost his cultivation realm of the Transformation Stage, his profound comprehension of physical force remained entirely intact.
The most vital injury—the damage to the spirit—was no longer a problem after his descent.
Therefore, the primary concern for Chen Xian right now was the physical trauma.
Under Chen Xian's guidance, a surge of internal force gradually generated within his body, constantly wandering through his frame, weaving among the damaged flesh and blood, and driving his Qi and blood to mend the injuries.
Meanwhile, the young man sat anxiously beside Chen Xian, staring unblinkingly at him for fear that another accident might occur.
It was not until the sky outside grew completely dark that Chen Xian halted the circulation of his Qi and blood, pausing the repair of his physical injuries.
"The wounds sustained by this body are simply too severe. Nearly half a day has passed, and I have only managed a preliminary recovery. It seems it will take quite some time to fully heal."
Chen Xian let out a sigh.
"I never expected that upon projecting into this world, I would end up in the body of an old man—and an old man with such severe injuries at that."
Reflecting on his current physical state, Chen Xian felt immensely fortunate.
If he hadn't been choked and forced awake, waiting even a little longer might have allowed the injuries in this body to degenerate into irreversible trauma.
By that time, even if he used the power of the Transformation Stage to drive his Qi and blood, it would have been to no avail.
After all, the Transformation Stage was not the realm of seeing the spirit; it could not achieve truly microscopic control over every detail of the body.
"However, I haven't inherited any memories from this body. That is somewhat troublesome."
Just as Chen Xian was feeling troubled by this dilemma, ripples suddenly spread across the majestic and sacred ancient mirror within his sea of consciousness. A torrent of information slowly flowed into his mind.
"The Great Yuan Dynasty, the lineage of Fengshui masters, the Sect Master of the Earth Origin Sect, Qi Jing..."
Countless memories flooded his mind, and Chen Xian instantly became lost in them. These memories clearly belonged to the original owner of this body, which had now been absorbed and integrated by the ancient mirror.
After an unknown passage of time, Chen Xian finally broke free from the vortex of memories. As he looked around, a sense of having lived through a lifetime away arose in his heart.
"So the previous owner of this body was named Qi Jing."
Chen Xian murmured inwardly.
"Master... what is wrong?"
Seeing Chen Xian fall into deep thought, the boy asked with a puzzled expression.
"It's nothing. Master was just pondering some past events."
Chen Xian shook his head and smiled at the boy.
"Then Master, are you hungry? I'll go get you something to eat."
Only then did Chen Xian realize that he had been cultivating for half a day, and the sky had already grown dark.
"Alright."
Having circulated his Qi and blood all afternoon, Chen Xian was indeed feeling rather hungry.
After all, his current Qi and blood could not endlessly sustain him without nourishment as they used to.
"Then Master, please rest for a moment. I'll go get some food for you."
With that, the young man stepped out of the cave and walked toward a nearby small village.
"I wonder if my transcendent abilities can still be used in this body?"
Chen Xian suddenly thought of his extraordinary powers.
If those transcendent abilities could be utilized, it would make things much more convenient for him. At the very least, he wouldn't have to bustle about just for meals, nor would he need to worry about a deficiency in Qi and blood.
"Transcendent power is a mutation of the physical body. Now that the body is completely different, it shouldn't manifest in this vessel. However, my descent was achieved through the spirit of the mirror descending into this world. Could it be that the transcendent abilities were also replicated into this body?"
Thinking of the magnificent wonders of the Innate Mirror Dao, a glimmer of hope sparked within Chen Xian's heart.
Unfortunately, the ancient mirror answered his doubts only sporadically, sometimes responding and sometimes remaining silent.
He could not obtain an answer to this question from the ancient mirror alone.
"It seems I will have to wait until tomorrow to find out whether my transcendent abilities can still be used."
With the sky now completely dark, even if Chen Xian wanted to test whether his extraordinary powers existed within this body, it was simply impossible.
