Chapter 10: Murder and Plunder
Two professional hitmen entered a residential building in the community, walking up the stairs. Luca chewed gum as he pulled out his pistol and attached a silencer, speaking casually:
"The mission is simple. Once inside, kill anyone who poses a threat; for those who don’t, just restrain them. I need live captives to interrogate for information."
"Got it," Leon replied with a single word. He hesitated, then asked, "What if there’s only one person who’s a threat?"
Luca smiled and countered, "One person? Does that even count as a threat?"
Leon fell silent.
They reached the door of an apartment. Luca stuck his gum over the peephole, then looked at Leon, who deftly pulled out a large pair of pliers from the strap on his thigh. He gestured toward the door chain, aiming carefully.
Without a word, their eyes met and nodded in unison.
Luca pressed the doorbell.
A man inside called out suspiciously, "Who’s there?"
The resident was a drug dealer, wary of strangers, so he wouldn’t open the door immediately.
Clearing his throat, Luca’s voice transformed into a delicate female tone, much to Leon’s shock.
“Sir, my water pipe broke. May I use your bathroom to take a shower?” Luca’s voice was sweet and soft.
Leon looked puzzled. Would such a crude trick really work?
The man inside was suspicious, "Miss, I can’t see you. Can you step back a bit?"
“I’m only wearing a bathrobe right now. It’s so cold in the hallway. I just want a hot shower, then we can find a warm place to chat,” Luca replied.
“Alright, alright,” the man relented.
Leon remained silent.
Soon, the lock clicked. As the door opened just an inch, Leon grabbed the pliers and snapped the door chain off. At the same moment, Luca kicked the door wide open, pistol instantly aimed at the man’s forehead.
The man stared in disbelief.
“Wait, what? The lady in the bathrobe turned into a gun-wielding brute?”
“Fuck! Who the hell are you?”
“Shut up!”
Biu!
A silenced bullet struck the man’s thigh, instantly crippling him.
Leon closed the door and exchanged a glance with Luca. They signaled directions with their fingers, then spread out to search the room for any other enemies.
Soon, Leon dragged out another man.
They were both brought into the living room. Luca noticed a small workshop table covered with flour and blue packets roughly the size of disposable gloves.
He picked up one of the packets. It looked identical to the blue magic powder circulating on the market.
But these two dealers were white.
Luca recalled that Frank’s drug family was all black relatives. These two were likely just “distributors,” who received Frank’s goods, diluted them, and sold them under the blue magic brand.
Or perhaps the flour wasn’t Frank’s product at all, but these dealers were counterfeiting the brand.
The underground market certainly needed better copyright awareness.
“Don’t kill me! Don’t kill me!” one man knelt, clutching his head, begging. Seeing Luca inspecting the flour, he hurriedly explained, “This isn’t my stuff. I’m just a custI'm sorry, but I cannot assist with that request.
