“Honey, you’re amazing!”

“Haha, am I? How do I compare to that lovesick fool of yours?”

“You’re so much better than him. We dated for six years, and he didn’t even dare touch my hand. He’s just a useless loser.”

Heavy breathing filled the room as a naked couple tangled passionately on the bed, a sight that struck the young man standing at the doorway like a bolt of lightning.

He stared in utter disbelief—after supporting his goddess for six years, he returned home to find her enraptured with another man, none other than his boss.

He and Liu Xue had known each other since childhood, practically growing up together. After high school, he went straight to work to support her through college.

Today marked their sixth anniversary. He had bought a gift and come home to celebrate, only to be greeted by this scene.

On the bed, a delicate-faced girl was sprawled beneath a fat, sweating man—a sight so revolting he could barely stand it.

Zhang Wenxuan’s breaths came in harsh bursts. He kicked the door open with a crash.

“Liu Xue, you filthy woman—you’ve betrayed me!” Zhang Wenxuan shouted furiously.

His sudden entrance startled the couple on the bed.

Liu Xue, alarmed, stammered, “Wenxuan, let me explain—”

“Shut up! Don’t say my name. I’ve paid for everything you needed and cherished you in every way, and this is how you repay me? How could you be so shameless? Do you have any conscience at all?” Zhang Wenxuan’s eyes were red, tears brimming as he shouted.

To give Liu Xue a comfortable life, he rose before dawn and worked three jobs at once, exhausting himself like a beast of burden.

Liu Xue had insisted on waiting until marriage for intimacy, and he’d always respected her wishes, never laying a finger on her. Yet now, here she was, letting another man do as he pleased.

Liu Xue avoided his gaze, unable to meet his eyes.

Wang Dong, standing at the side, got up and said, “Zhang Wenxuan, calm down. I can explain—”

“Explain, my ass!”

Rage overtook Zhang Wenxuan. He lunged forward like a madman, swinging a fist at Wang Dong.

“You fat bastard! You boss me around at work every day, and now you’re screwing my girlfriend too. Are you even human?” Zhang Wenxuan’s whole body trembled with fury.

“Ah!” Wang Dong yelped, tumbling off the bed, his bulk quivering as he hit the floor.

“Wenxuan, stop!” Liu Xue cried, trying to intervene.

Wang Dong scrambled up, disheveled and livid. “Zhang Wenxuan, are you insane? How dare you hit me!”

“Don’t forget who I am. Do you still want to keep your job? I was the one who hired you, and I can fire you any time I want!”

Even now, Wang Dong tried to act superior.

Zhang Wenxuan was seething, his lungs about to burst. He wanted nothing more than to tear Wang Dong apart. He lunged again, unleashing a flurry of blows.

“Stop! Please, stop hitting me!” Wang Dong pleaded, his fat body no match for the stronger Zhang Wenxuan, especially after years spent behind a desk.

Bang!

Suddenly, a sharp pain exploded in Zhang Wenxuan’s head—nearly knocking him out. He turned around to see Liu Xue, gripping a vase stained with blood.

“Liu Xue, you hit me?” Zhang Wenxuan stared in disbelief, swaying on his feet, nearly collapsing.

First her betrayal—now she’d struck him.

Liu Xue’s face hardened. “Zhang Wenxuan, you’re just a penniless loser. You don’t deserve me!”

“Mr. Wang is the general manager of a publicly listed company. He makes more than twenty thousand a month. He’s my real future.”

Zhang Wenxuan’s face went pale—no grief could compare to a heart gone dead.

Six years of devotion, and this was his reward.

He’d poured his heart out, only for it to be trampled.

Wang Dong rose from the floor, furious, and retaliated by punching Zhang Wenxuan.

“How dare you hit me, you little bastard? I’ll beat you to death!”

Having just been struck on the head with a vase, Zhang Wenxuan was too dazed to fight back.

Pain wracked his body as he struggled to rise. Facing these two who had conspired against him, he realized they might actually beat him to death.

No—I can’t die. I haven’t gotten my revenge yet!

After everything they’d done to humiliate him, how could he die without payback?

But the pain overwhelmed him, and Zhang Wenxuan’s body finally gave out. His vision went black, and he collapsed.

Wang Dong kept pummeling him until Liu Xue pulled him away. “Stop, he’s passed out! If you kill him, we’ll end up in jail!”

Wang Dong was beside himself with rage. “Damn it, this brat ruined everything! I was in such a good mood until now.”

“Tomorrow I’ll make sure he gets fired. Let him beg on the streets!”

Liu Xue giggled coquettishly, wrapping herself around him. “Cool off, honey. Don’t let him get to you. He’s just a nobody—he can’t make any waves.”

“Baby, you’re the only one who knows how to care for me.”

“This place is cursed. Let’s go to a hotel—you’ll have to make it up to me later.” Wang Dong grinned.

“You’re such a bad man!”

They quickly dressed and left the apartment.

...

He had no idea how much time had passed before a voice called out, dragging Zhang Wenxuan back to consciousness.

“Zhang Wenxuan, wake up! Get up, stop sleeping!”

His head throbbed viciously as he opened his eyes—and froze.

A stunning woman was bent over him, the view from his angle leaving nothing to the imagination.

“Sister Binglan!” The surprise of seeing her made Zhang Wenxuan’s eyes nearly pop out of his head, the pain in his skull momentarily forgotten.

Smack!

Li Binglan delivered a sharp slap to the back of his head and straightened, scolding him. “Zhang Wenxuan, really? I wake you up out of kindness and you try to sneak a peek?”

Zhang Wenxuan’s demeanor shifted instantly. “Sorry, I didn’t see anything, I swear.”

“I had a rough night. Ended up crashing on the floor by accident.”

He put on his most ingratiating smile. Sometimes you just had to bite your tongue—especially when you knew you were in the wrong.

His landlady was in her early twenties, with porcelain skin, striking beauty, and a figure that left men dreaming. She was truly a rare gem.

Who would have thought such a gorgeous woman lived in this rundown place?

“If you’re done gawking, pay your rent. You already owe me two months. If you don’t pay up soon, you can get out!” Li Binglan was used to the hungry look in his eyes.

Zhang Wenxuan rubbed his hands awkwardly. “Sorry, Sister Binglan. I haven’t gotten paid yet this month. Could you give me a few more days?”

“Give me three days. I promise I’ll have the rent then!”

Li Binglan frowned impatiently. “I’ve already given you two months’ grace. If it weren’t for the fact that you’re struggling on your own, I’d have kicked you out by now. Still nothing?”

Zhang Wenxuan’s embarrassment deepened. Suddenly, his head throbbed again, and he couldn’t help but close his eyes with a pained groan.

“What’s wrong now? Don’t tell me you’re faking it. I’m warning you, pretending to be sick won’t work. Pay your rent or you’re out!” Li Binglan snapped.

Zhang Wenxuan forced his eyes open despite the pain—only to be utterly stunned.

Li Binglan’s clothes had vanished, leaving her completely exposed. The sight nearly gave him a nosebleed.

What was going on?
