Hearing him say that, Li Binglan suddenly remembered. Earlier, while taking a shower, she had accidentally bumped into the wall and fallen into the bathtub, experiencing the harrowing pain of nearly drowning—a sensation she still vividly recalled.
“You saved me!”
Looking down, Li Binglan realized she was completely naked.
“Ah!”
She quickly grabbed a nearby blanket to cover her delicate figure, her cheeks flushing crimson.
“You saw everything?” Li Binglan felt both embarrassed and panicked. She wanted to scold him, yet Zhang Wenxuan had saved her. If not for him, she might have drowned to death.
Since he had saved her life, she found herself unable to be angry.
“Wait!”
“How did you know I was drowning? You must have been spying on me while I was bathing!” Li Binglan gritted her teeth.
Zhang Wenxuan was momentarily speechless. He couldn’t very well admit he had a form of X-ray vision—that was his secret, one he wasn’t willing to share with anyone.
“I’m sorry, Sister Binglan, I…” Zhang Wenxuan’s expression was awkward.
“Get out! I don’t ever want to see you again!” Li Binglan was furious.
Zhang Wenxuan hurriedly left, dashing out of her room like a flash.
Clearly, she was still upset, and this was not a time to provoke her. Besides, he had more important matters to attend to.
Returning to his own room, his face lit up with excitement.
“I’m going to make money—lots of it. Since I have X-ray vision, the easiest way to earn is through jade gambling.”
“I remember Linjiang has an industry for that!” Zhang Wenxuan couldn’t help but smile.
With such an ability, how could he worry about money?
Once he had enough, he could exact his revenge, and winning over the beautiful landlady would no longer be impossible!
He set off immediately, hailing a taxi to the local jade street in Linjiang City.
Soon, the taxi stopped at the entrance of a street lined with numerous jade shops.
Zhang Wenxuan ignored the stores selling finished jade ornaments; those were not his target today.
His eyes scanned around before entering a rough jade stone shop, where a burst of noisy excitement greeted him.
“It’s gone up, hahaha! This round’s a huge win! I’m getting rich!” a middle-aged man shouted, clutching a half-cut rough jade stone, his face beaming with exhilaration.
Others around him cast envious glances.
“That guy’s really lucky. He bought the rough stone for three thousand, and it turned out to be a top-quality jade worth at least fifty thousand!” people whispered.

These words stirred Zhang Wenxuan’s heart wildly.
He had indeed come to the right place. Jade gambling could yield great returns from a small investment; with keen insight, earning money would be easy.
He approached the area where rough stones were displayed and immediately activated his X-ray vision. The inside of the stones became fully visible.
“It really works!”
“Hahaha, how can I not get rich now? For others, jade gambling is a gamble, but for me, it’s risk-free—like picking up money off the ground,” Zhang Wenxuan exclaimed in excitement.
This wasn’t gambling at all; it was like finding gold scattered on the floor—he just had to bend down and pick it up.
His gaze flicked over the stones until he found one with promising jade inside.
Though he didn’t understand jade well, picking the pretty one was always a safe bet.
He picked up the rough jade stone and decided to buy it.
“Sir, this piece costs five thousand,” the clerk said.
“No problem, swipe my card,” Zhang Wenxuan waved his hand and pulled out his bank card.
At that moment, a familiar voice rang out.
“Zhang Wenxuan?”
His face darkened instantly at the sound of Wang Dong’s voice. He turned around, gritting his teeth angrily.
“You bastard, how dare you show up in front of me!” Zhang Wenxuan glared furiously.
He took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. Now wasn’t the time to argue with Wang Dong.
Once he had money, he would have the power to slap Wang Dong right in the face.
Just wait—his revenge would come soon.
“Hahaha!”
Wang Dong laughed loudly. “Zhang Wenxuan, you’re such an idiot. Do you really think that woman Liu Xue is some pure, innocent girl?”
His tone was dripping with mockery. Seeing Zhang Wenxuan holding the rough jade stone, Wang Dong looked surprised.
“You’re not here to gamble on jade, are you?”
“Jade gambling isn’t for poor bastards like you. Trash like you is only fit for moving bricks on a construction site your whole life!” Wang Dong sneered.
Zhang Wenxuan clenched his anger tightly. He didn’t want to waste words with Wang Dong. Instead, he would use facts to shut him up.
With that, Zhang Wenxuan approached the jade-cutting machine carrying the rough stone.
“Master, please cut it for me—just slice it straight down the middle,” he requested.
The cutter hesitated. “Young man, cutting jade isn’t that simple. Slicing it in half risks damaging the jade inside.”
Wang Dong scoffed, “Zhang Wenxuan, it seems you’re a total novice. Trying to get rich from jade gambling? What a pipe dream.”

Zhang Wenxuan shot him a sharp glance. “Could you stop barking in my ear? Do I need you to teach me how to do my business?”
Wang Dong exploded in anger. “Zhang Wenxuan, how dare you insult me? Believe it or not, I’m going to fire you!”
Pfft!
Zhang Wenxuan burst out laughing. How could he still be afraid of Wang Dong’s threats now?
“Master, please cut it!” Zhang Wenxuan said.
Their quarrel drew the attention of many in the shop; a crowd gathered around.
Ssshhh!
The cutter started the machine, and the grinding wheel slowly sliced through the rough jade stone. Murky water flowed down as the true interior of the stone gradually revealed itself.
“This kid’s gutsy, cutting it straight in half like that. Usually, they chip away bit by bit to avoid damaging any jade inside,” someone remarked.
Others nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I bet this young man is a clueless rookie dreaming of getting rich overnight through jade gambling.”
Amid the murmurs and Wang Dong’s sneers, Zhang Wenxuan’s face radiated confidence.
Go ahead and mock me all you want. Just wait and watch me prove you wrong!
Suddenly, a shout rang out.
“It’s green!”
What?
The words instantly captured everyone’s attention. The rough stone was now fully cut open. Half of it was just ordinary rock, but embedded in the other half was a fist-sized piece of emerald-green jade.
“No way!”
“There’s really jade inside, and it’s perfectly centered in one half of the stone.”
“Look at the quality and color—it’s worth at least fifty thousand!” Wang Dong exclaimed in shock.
The crowd gasped, all eyes turning to Zhang Wenxuan in astonishment.
“This young guy is so lucky! A total novice, yet he just uncovered jade worth tens of thousands!” they envied.
“Hahaha!”
This time, Zhang Wenxuan laughed heartily, feeling an immense sense of exhilaration.
The moment to rewrite my destiny has finally arrived!
