Chapter 33: Eevee Pack, Purple Potential!

With Ponyta’s guidance, Zhang Feng headed straight northwest!
It could be said that after receiving a tip from one of the Pokémon living inside Golden Town’s Pokémon Nature Reserve, Zhang Feng had gained a tremendous advantage.
Sure enough, after riding Ponyta for two hours, Zhang Feng arrived at Eevee’s habitat.
This particular habitat was mainly covered in sand, with patches of grass scattered throughout. It truly suited a fox-like Pokémon, as its living environment was not so different from that of an actual fox.
Eevee possessed remarkably unique genes. Based on the information currently available, it could evolve into eight different forms: Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.
However, since the story had only progressed as far as the Hoenn region, the researchers of Hoenn and Kanto had yet to discover the later evolutions from the Sinnoh region—Leafeon and Glaceon—not to mention the even later Sylveon.
Therefore, unless there were Eevee with extraordinarily special constitutions capable of undergoing multiple evolutions, Zhang Feng would need to obtain at least eight Eevee if he wanted one of every evolution.
As he searched for signs of Eevee, Zhang Feng suddenly heard a familiar sound coming from the woods behind him. The next moment, a small brown creature darted out from the trees!
It seemed to have been startled after spotting an unfamiliar human, which was why it had emerged from the woods.
When Zhang Feng looked closely and realized that this was the Eevee he had been longing to find, he immediately used the system to check its attributes.
“Ding! Eevee’s current attributes are as follows:
Pokémon: Eevee
Level: 16
Ability: Adaptability
Type: Normal
Potential: Purple
Bond Evolution: Locked
Mega Evolution: Locked
Moves: Tackle, Tail Whip, Swift, Quick Attack, Yawn, Curse…
Friendship: 0
Background: A little creature living in the nature reserve, and the most outstanding member of the Eevee species
Hobbies: Mischief and playing tricks on others”

Upon seeing that this Eevee possessed purple potential, Zhang Feng naturally developed the desire to capture it.
Thus, the moment Eevee appeared, Zhang Feng immediately gave Ponyta an order.
“Ponyta, use Flame Wheel! Attack Eevee!”
Although Eevee was small and quite fast, it had little chance of evading an opponent even more skilled in speed than itself.
Just as Eevee was about to flee, Ponyta let out a neigh. Flames erupted across its body as it spun rapidly and charged straight toward Eevee!
With a thunderous crash, flames scattered in every direction, and Eevee was sent flying by the impact.
Using a Fire-type move on the sandy ground would not start a fire in the nature reserve, so there was no need to worry.
Seizing the opportunity, Zhang Feng immediately threw a Nature Ball.
The Nature Ball followed a graceful arc and struck Eevee directly on the head. In an instant, Eevee was transformed into a streak of red light and drawn into the ball.
Soon, the Nature Ball began shaking violently. It seemed as though it might burst open at any moment, but after a fierce struggle, it finally emitted a crisp click.
Seeing this, Zhang Feng breathed a sigh of relief.
Eevee had been successfully captured!
Judging by Eevee’s intentions, it seemed she had deliberately jumped out a moment ago to frighten Zhang Feng and play a prank on him. Instead, she had been captured outright. She had truly lost both her advantage and her freedom.
Zhang Feng walked over and opened Eevee’s Nature Ball, releasing her once more.
When Eevee saw Zhang Feng, she looked somewhat puzzled. After being captured, she had entered a strange, unfamiliar space.
Inside that space was a group of intimidatingly powerful creatures. There were even Legendary Pokémon among them, frightening Eevee so badly that she did not dare make the slightest move.
Unable to resist, she had been forced to allow the Poké Ball to complete the capture.
In other words, the moment any Pokémon was taken into one of Zhang Feng’s Poké Balls and transferred into the system space, the companions inside would ensure that it became completely obedient.
After all, Rayquaza was not a Pokémon that ordinary creatures could resist!
That meant Zhang Feng’s current Pokémon capture rate was a perfect one hundred percent.
Such a thing was practically impossible within a nature reserve. Nature Balls were relatively cheap to manufacture, and their success rate when capturing Pokémon was also very low.
With the slightest mishap, a Nature Ball would explode after catching a Pokémon. The only exception was when the Pokémon willingly chose to become a Trainer’s partner and offered no resistance.

Come to think of it, the step where he had tricked Ponyta with a Figy Berry earlier could probably have been skipped.
After all, if he had simply thrown out a Nature Ball and sent Ponyta into the system space, Rayquaza, Milotic, and the others could have helped him make Ponyta “submit.”
Of course, it was still best that Ponyta had been won over through Zhang Feng’s persuasion. Otherwise, the little creature probably would not have told him where Eevee’s habitat was.
It might not even have been willing to become Zhang Feng’s mount.
After capturing Eevee, Zhang Feng looked at the little creature before him and smiled.
“Eevee, I heard that you’re the most outstanding member of your species. You wouldn’t want your family to worry about you after I captured you, would you?”
“How about telling me where your group lives? I’ll let everyone come to that mysterious space from before and keep you company. What do you say?”
After hearing Zhang Feng’s words and seeing the gentle expression on his face, Eevee inexplicably felt a chill run through her.
It was just like the feeling she got from the abnormal forest lizards and Pidgeot in the system space.
Thus, frightened out of her wits, Eevee betrayed her own group on the spot. She became a guide and led Zhang Feng straight toward her family’s habitat.
Seeing how sensible Eevee was being, the corners of Zhang Feng’s mouth lifted slightly.
A moment later, after entering the sandy region, Zhang Feng discovered the tracks of all the Eevee living there.
As a Trainer determined to become a Pokémon Master, Zhang Feng’s skill with throwing Poké Balls had naturally been maxed out.
Therefore, whenever an Eevee entered his line of sight, the Nature Ball in his hand immediately flew out, as though equipped with a tracking system, and captured it inside.
Afterward, the Pokémon in Zhang Feng’s system space would give the newly captured Eevee their own special “care.” The Nature Ball would soon emit a crisp click, signifying a successful capture.
In the end, Zhang Feng captured ten Eevee in total: two with purple potential, five with blue potential, and three with green potential. He had practically packed up and carried away every Eevee in this sandy area.
With that, the Eevee population in the system space finally reached a sufficient size. It could now produce high-quality offspring for Zhang Feng to raise as backup partners.
