Chapter 49: The Moon Spirit and Chimney Mountain!

After successfully capturing that newly born Eevee, Zhang Feng finally left Violet City!

This time, he had stayed in Violet City for nearly half a month, and there were only three months left until the opening of the Hoenn League’s Colorful Spectacle tournament!

Zhang Feng had been traveling since departing from White Town, and three months had already passed.

At present, he still needed to collect the last four gym badges, so his progress required a significant push.

Thus, riding on Pidgeot, Zhang Feng set off from Violet City, heading toward the Fiery Town where the Fiery Gym was located.

That night, Zhang Feng found a place to rest and released all his Pokémon.

Coincidentally, the first Eevee he caught was hoping to evolve into the Dark-type Moonlight Spirit. If its affection was above 220 points at night and it leveled up in battle, it could successfully evolve into the Moonlight Spirit!

Now, Eevee’s level was not low, so it was time to evolve.

With this in mind, Zhang Feng, accompanied by Eevee, began searching for a suitable opponent.

“Eevee, if you want to evolve successfully, you have to work hard tonight!”

At Zhang Feng’s words, Eevee responded with an enthusiastic cry.

“Eevee, use Shadow Ball on the Slowpoke!”

With a rumble, the Shadow Ball exploded instantly, blasting Slowpoke away. The experience gain notification echoed in Zhang Feng’s mind.

“Eevee, use Dig on the Phanpy!”

At Zhang Feng’s command, Eevee immediately burrowed underground. When Phanpy couldn’t find any trace of Eevee, it suddenly burst out of the ground!

The force from Dig flipped Phanpy over.

“Now, finish it with one last hit, use Shadow Ball!”

Another Shadow Ball was launched. The huge explosion swallowed Phanpy’s remaining strength.

“Ding dong, Eevee defeated Phanpy, gained 231 experience points, level up: current level is 29!”

At the moment the system notification sounded, Eevee let out a pleasant cry.

Then, a dazzling light began to envelop Eevee’s body. Clearly, the evolution light was shining!

As Eevee’s form grew larger, soon a sleek, pitch-black Moonlight Spirit appeared before Zhang Feng.

“Ding dong, current stats of Moonlight Spirit are as follows:”

Creature: Moonlight Spirit
Level: 30
Ability: Synchronize
Type: Dark
Nature: Gold
Bond Evolution: Locked
Mega Evolution: Locked
Skills: Strange Light, Charm, Malicious Pursuit, Dark Pulse, Crunch, Moonlight…
Affection: 225
Background: Met in Golden Town Sanctuary, successfully evolved with trainer’s help
Personality: Mischievous, likes to tease other Pokémon

Looking at Moonlight Spirit’s new attributes, Zhang Feng smiled.

“Congratulations, Moonlight Spirit, you’ve finally evolved. Take a good look at your new form.”

Receiving Zhang Feng’s praise, Moonlight Spirit immediately leapt into his arms!

Indeed, with the help of the aptitude evolution stone, the purple aptitude Eevee still achieved a golden-level aptitude upon evolving!

This meant that with the aid of the aptitude evolution stone, all of Zhang Feng’s main battle Pokémon would have at least golden aptitude after their final evolution!

Each one was a core member of any top-tier team, revealing Zhang Feng’s immense future potential.

After Moonlight Spirit successfully evolved, Zhang Feng introduced it to the rest of the team, allowing them to reacquaint themselves, before settling down to sleep peacefully.

…

The next morning, Zhang Feng prepared food for his Pokémon and took some ingredients from the system space. With the help of Infernape, he kindled a fire and cooked.

After breakfast, Zhang Feng recalled all his Pokémon and set off toward Fiery Town.

However, to reach Fiery Town, he had to pass through Chimney Mountain, the region in Hoenn with the greatest concentration of Fire-type Pokémon.

Though called Chimney Mountain, it was in fact an active volcano, so the Pokémon living there were mostly volcanic Fire-types.

Encountering the Fire-type starter Pokémon here would be quite a challenge.

Zhang Feng admired many Fire-type Pokémon, such as Charizard, Blaziken, Infernape, Arcanine, and Ninetales.

Oh, and of course, the flightless one was also on Zhang Feng’s Fire-type favorites list.

If he could capture some Fire-type Pokémon on Chimney Mountain, Zhang Feng would be very pleased.

With eager anticipation for Fire-type Pokémon, Zhang Feng quickened his pace and soon reached the foot of Chimney Mountain.

Upon arrival, he spotted a large number of Pokémon like Magcargo and Numel nearby.

However, he wasn’t particularly fond of these two Fire-types, so there was no need to capture them forcibly.

Continuing upward, with Ralts, Infernape, and Moonlight Spirit leading the way, Zhang Feng encountered no major obstacles.

The higher he climbed, the stronger the Pokémon became.

Eventually, he came across two Torkoal and four small Torkoal.

Their final evolutionary form, Coalossal, was quite formidable. Zhang Feng decided to capture them to add to his system space as a group Pokémon.

The lead Torkoal had a blue aptitude, while the smaller ones had green aptitudes, none suitable as Zhang Feng’s main battle Pokémon.

“Ding dong, current stats of Torkoal are as follows:”

Creature: Torkoal
Level: 31
Ability: Flame Body
Type: Fire
Aptitude: Blue
Bond Evolution: Locked
Mega Evolution: Locked
Skills: Smokescreen, Clear Smog, Flame Wheel, Fire Punch, Haze…

“Ralts, use Psychic on Torkoal!”

Following Zhang Feng’s command, both Ralts unleashed their psychic power, delivering a massive mental shock to Torkoal’s mind.

Severely wounded, Zhang Feng quickly threw a standard Poké Ball and captured it.

Even its evolved form was no match for Zhang Feng, so the remaining four small Torkoal were easily defeated by Infernape’s attacks.

In total, six Pokémon were successfully added to the system space!

With his new group bolstered, Zhang Feng’s joy grew.

Suddenly, a dog’s bark caused Zhang Feng to freeze in surprise!

Looking into the distance, he caught sight of a black-and-red canine Pokémon flashing past.

Zhang Feng’s face lit up with delight.

“Could that have just been a Houndour?”

Houndour was a rare species, mostly bred within Miss Juna’s family!

Encountering such a Pokémon in the wild was extremely difficult.

If there was a Houndour on Chimney Mountain, Zhang Feng was determined to catch it!
