“No, Xiaohua…”
“Sun Ying, don’t do anything rash!”
Yang Lan screamed in fright, terrified that Ye Hua would lose her life then and there.
Lu Yao shouted to stop Sun Ying because she could not bear to watch her destroy herself.
The sharp dagger sliced through the surface of Ye Hua’s neck, cutting through only the outer layer of skin. Tiny beads of blood immediately seeped out, gathering into a larger drop that slowly trickled down her neck.
The smell of blood spread through the air.
Ye Hua held her breath in terror, inwardly sighing with relief that the dagger had not severed an artery and caused her to bleed to death.
“Attorney Lu, thank you for what you said to me. It’s just a pity that I only understand now that you meant well—that you were trying to guide me toward the best possible outcome.” Sun Ying gazed sorrowfully at Lu Yao, then glared furiously at Ye Hua and shouted, “Come with me to the rooftop.”
Ye Hua did not dare disobey. She was afraid of angering Sun Ying and provoking her into attacking again in a moment of irrationality.
Yang Lan watched Ye Hua being forced toward the rooftop. She anxiously clutched Ye Yingtang’s hand and pleaded, “Darling, you must find a way to bring Xiaohua back safely. She’s my only precious daughter. Nothing can happen to her. Otherwise, I…”
She did not finish. Instead, she let her tears speak for her.
Seeing Yang Lan sobbing in grief, Ye Yingtang’s heart softened. He stepped forward, put an arm around her shoulders, and gently patted her back, soothing her sorrow.
Yang Lan’s heart instantly grew warm.
She had known it. Ye Yingtang could not possibly be completely devoid of feelings for her.
Watching this scene, Lu Yao felt somewhat moved.

Through their interactions during this period, she had realized that Ye Yingtang was not actually as cold and heartless as he appeared.
“Let’s go up and take a look,” Yang Lan suggested.
Everyone silently followed.
When the group arrived on the rooftop, they saw Sun Ying threatening Ye Hua as the two of them stood on the rooftop railing. If either one of them fell backward, they would both plunge from the hundred-story building and be smashed to pieces.
By then, Ye Hua’s face had gone deathly pale, and her eyes were vacant with terror.
Leaning against Ye Yingtang’s chest, Yang Lan wept uncontrollably.
Seeing that everyone had arrived, Sun Ying decided to expose Ye Hua’s crimes immediately.
A gust of cold wind swept over them, making her stagger slightly. To steady herself, she had no choice but to focus her attention on her footing.
Ye Hua seized the opportunity. The moment the strength in Sun Ying’s hand weakened, she immediately crouched and jumped down from the railing.
As soon as Sun Ying regained her balance, she realized that Ye Hua had escaped.
Without a second thought, she leaped forward and thrust the dagger viciously toward Ye Hua’s back.
The dagger struck Ye Hua squarely in the back, and she hurriedly dodged to the side.
How could Sun Ying let her go? With bloodlust burning in her eyes, she pursued Ye Hua, repeatedly driving the dagger at her with all her strength.
Ye Hua was eventually driven back until there was nowhere left to retreat. As she watched the dagger about to plunge into her heart, her eyes filled with despair.
But the dagger was kicked away in midair.

Immediately afterward, a foot slammed into Sun Ying’s chest and sent her flying.
Sun Ying landed hard on her back, the pain twisting her features into a savage grimace.
Rescued at last, Ye Hua scrambled to her feet. The moment she saw the appearance of the man who had saved her, she stared at him in a daze, completely mesmerized.
She had only one straightforward assessment of the man who had rescued her.
That was…
Handsome!
Extremely handsome!
Peerlessly handsome!
How had she never known that there was such a handsome man in the capital?
Lu Yao was also astonished, but she was not captivated by the man. Rather, she found his actions utterly baffling.
She stepped forward, looked at the man before her, and asked in confusion, “What are you doing?”
