Chapter 153: This woman is truly a lunatic.
Fierce Biao and his companion dashed out of the corrugated iron shed, chasing toward the exit.
Only halfway through did the companion realize what had happened, and he shouted, "We've been tricked by that little bitch!"
At these words, they both turned to look back at the iron shed.
Coming into view was Lu Yao, emerging from the shed and sprinting toward the hillside.
Fierce Biao burst into a string of angry curses. He and his companion split up, flanking left and right as they gave chase in the direction Lu Yao had fled.
The very first thing Lu Yao had done upon getting the pocket knife inside the shed was to cut the ropes binding her. When she had taken self-defense classes, her instructor had taught her how to slice the bonds with a reverse grip so she could free herself in the shortest time possible.
Sure enough, everything she had learned in class back then came in handy now.
She congratulated herself for having paid close attention during those lessons.
Likely because her hands and feet had been bound for too long, her legs felt excruciatingly heavy as she ran. With the added difficulty of running uphill, it felt as arduous as scaling the heavens.
Rumble.
The weather refused to cooperate, and a torrential downpour suddenly lashed down from the sky.
Lu Yao was wearing a simple chiffon blouse and ice-silk trousers. Though the heavy rain soaked her completely, her clothes did not feel particularly weighted down; running, however, was still considerably harder than before.
This place was completely desolate and close to the sea, leaving her with no avenues for help.
Finally reaching the highest point of the hillside, she dared to look back down.

The pouring rain severely obstructed her vision, making it impossible to tell where Fierce Biao and his companion were.
If she chose the wrong path down the mountain and ran right into the kidnappers, all her previous efforts would be wasted.
The next second.
A dark figure appeared within her line of sight.
Startled, Lu Yao spun around and ran desperately in the opposite direction.
Yet, no sooner had she run that way than another figure appeared.
At that moment, she was caught in a pincer attack between the two kidnappers.
Lu Yao looked toward the remaining path, and her heart instantly plunged into despair.
The other path led directly to a cliff, and jumping off meant plunging into the bottomless sea.
Although her swimming skills were passable, facing the boundless, infinite ocean was like throwing an egg against a rock.
It was a dead end!
Death was certain either way; if she had to die, she would rather choose a quiet end than be tortured by the kidnappers!
Having made up her mind, Lu Yao broke into a fast run toward the cliff path.
Fierce Biao and his companion exchanged glances, and Fierce Biao muttered with a curse, "That woman is truly a lunatic, she doesn't even want her life!"

His companion’s expression turned cold. "We have to drag her back, or today's efforts will truly have been for nothing. Even if it was all in vain, we have to finish her off just to make up for the time wasted today!"
"Stop blabbing and chase her!"
Fierce Biao waved his hand and led his companion in pursuit of Lu Yao.
Lu Yao was running so hard she felt she might suffocate, but she dared not stop her legs. They felt as though they were filled with lead, so heavy she could hardly lift them.
The heavy rain slicked the ground, and a momentary lack of attention caused her feet to slip, sending her tumbling into a puddle.
With no time to care about her disheveled appearance, she scrambled and crawled, continuing her frantic dash toward the edge of the cliff.
Fierce Biao and his companion fared no better; a slight lapse in concentration sent them slipping into the mud. By the time they reached the edge of the cliff, Lu Yao was nowhere to be seen.
The companion stomped his foot in frustration. "That little bitch really knows how to run—she's vanished again!"
Fierce Biao scanned the surroundings. Indeed, Lu Yao was nowhere in sight. The bare, desolate cliff didn't even have a single blade of grass on it; there was simply no place for anyone to hide nearby.
Moreover, the only path leading to the cliff was the one they had chased her down.
His face darkening, he looked out at the bottomless, churning waves of the deep sea and voiced his suspicion, "Could that little bitch have actually lost her mind and jumped into the sea?"
