Chapter 160: His Tenderness
“Did you already know?”
Lu Yao blinked, her eyelids heavy with fatigue.
These past few days had been overwhelmingly busy for her.
She had just dealt with Ye Zema’s scandal and then immediately plunged into matters concerning Fang Xiaoya, nonstop without a break.
Each event was a whirlwind of tension that left her utterly exhausted.
Unable to fight off the drowsiness, she yawned widely in front of Ye Zehong.
“Tired?”
Ye Zehong noticed the redness in her eyes and felt a pang of tenderness.
Lu Yao met his deep black gaze with her weary, watery eyes and pressed on, “You haven’t answered my question yet.”
Ye Zehong stood up, took her hand, and led her to the sofa.
He settled back onto the couch, and she lay down, resting her head on his lap, yawning once more.
“Go ahead, tell me.”
He lowered his head, gazing into her misty eyes, and nodded gently.
“Only after delving deeper into Yang Lan did I dare to make such a guess,” he said softly. His long fingers gently tucked her stray hair behind her ear, caressing her brow with a tender touch. “The organization Yang Lan belongs to must be sizable, spanning the globe. Their operations last a long time; they only close in once complete corruption has taken hold.”
“So… Yang Lan and the organization behind her, strictly speaking, are targeting the entire Ye Corporation.” Lu Yao’s heart clenched instantly.
From this, she realized her mother was nothing more than a mere pawn—an insignificant piece sacrificed by Yang Lan and her shadowy organization in their bid to consume the Ye family.
This organization was merciless and utterly inhumane.
Tears welled in Lu Yao’s eyes, and one slipped down her cheek, dampening Ye Zehong’s trousers.
He bent down and kissed the corner of her eye gently.
His warmth and tenderness made her eyes redden despite herself.
“It’s alright. I’m not sad at all. I’m just…”
Lu Yao forced a smile, trying to appear strong, but before she could finish, Ye Zehong’s fierce kiss swallowed her words whole.
He held her face possessively, pouring all his worries and sorrow into that passionate kiss, wanting to drown together in the intensity of the moment.
Lu Yao did not resist; instead, she wrapped her arms around his neck and matched his rhythm, reciprocating the deep love in his kiss.
They kissed for an unknown length of time.
Just as if they were about to become one, Lu Yao finally released him, collapsing back onto his lap, breathless, gazing into his eyes.
Her cheeks flushed a rosy red, her breath uneven as she said, “Thank you for arriving in time today. Otherwise, the kidnappers would have found my hideout sooner or later.”
“I’m sorry I was late. I promised I wouldn’t let you get hurt.”
His gentleness, the depth of his gaze, sent Lu Yao’s heart fluttering uncontrollably.
She shook her head softly, “I wasn’t hurt, so don’t blame yourself.”
Ye Zehong gently stroked her cheek, his eyes locking with hers as he said in a low voice, “Your shoulder muscles were still healing from the strain. You probably injured yourself again climbing into that hideout.”
As he spoke, he reached to pull at her collar to check on her shoulder.
Lu Yao shyly pressed his hand down, shaking her head to stop him. “No, it’s healed already. Really!”
Ye Zehong was unconvinced and insisted on seeing for himself.
Lu Yao sighed in resignation and let him loosen her collar.
His dark eyes fixated on her fair skin, a flicker of danger gleaming within them. His lips pressed tight, as if in the next moment he might…
Ravage her utterly!!!
