Chapter 103: Slaying the Second Elder
Holding a wine cup in his hand, Chu Han hurled it toward the youth on the other side. The speed was so blindingly fast that before they could even react, the cup smashed against one of their heads. The cup shattered, splitting his head open and leaving blood flowing freely.
The youth shrieked in agony. The remaining two wanted to charge forward, but remembering his performance at the Youth Tournament, they were suddenly struck with terror and dared not make a move.
"Chu Han, how dare you strike someone from our Samsara Valley! If you have the guts, don't run! I will definitely kill you!"
One of them yelled threats loudly, which only caused the tavern's patrons to burst into roaring laughter. Despite his grand words, the youth still did not dare step up to fight Chu Han. The slap in the face was incredibly satisfying to watch.
Perhaps embarrassed by the quiet mockery around him, the youth's face flushed red. Yet, he still had no intention of fighting. After all, compared to losing face, staying alive was far more important.
"I won't leave. I'll be waiting right here for you. Tell your elders that if they have the courage, they should come. I am ready to face them at any time," Chu Han sneered.
His words drew a round of cheers from the crowd. Having secured Chu Han's promise, the two youths quickly supported their injured companion and fled as if they had wings.
True to his word, Chu Han remained seated in the tavern without moving an inch, seemingly waiting for the people from Samsara Valley. Fearing that something terrible might happen to Chu Han, the tavern owner urged him to flee quickly, but Chu Han remained completely unmoved.
Even after all this time, the people of Samsara Valley were still as arrogant as ever. In the past, he might have just laughed it off, but right now he was in a foul mood. If he didn't have a good fight to vent his frustration, he felt he would suffocate. The arrogance of Samsara Valley had provoked him at just the wrong moment.
He then retrieved an elixir from his spatial ring. Looking at the patterns on the pill, he smiled faintly and hid it in his sleeve. If Samsara Valley truly persisted in their overbearing ways, he wouldn't mind wiping them out entirely.
An hour later, the Second Elder, who had fought him before, barged straight into the tavern. Seeing that Chu Han was still waiting, the elder froze for a moment, then glared at him with venomous malice. "So you haven't run away. I thought you were just boasting and would have fled by now. Since you stayed, don't even think about leaving this place alive."
With that, the Second Elder walked out of the tavern. He gestured for Chu Han to follow him outside. After all, the tavern was cramped, and fighting inside would restrict their movements.
Chu Han smiled faintly, drained the rest of the wine from his jar, and walked out with slightly unsteady, drunken steps. By now, the street outside had already been cleared by the members of Samsara Valley. Everyone else was hiding far away, eager to watch the battle unfold. At this moment, the only people standing at the tavern entrance were Chu Han and the cultivators of Samsara Valley.
"You didn't run? It seems you truly seek death. In that case, this old man will send you on your way and avenge Song Yi while I'm at it. Do you have any idea that Song Yi has not been able to get out of bed to this day, and his cultivation will likely never progress again? From that day on, you became the greatest enemy of our Samsara Valley."
The Second Elder roared, his arms erupting into crimson flames. The scorching heat caused the surrounding air to warp. He glared at Chu Han with pure malice; if given the chance, he would absolutely show no mercy and kill Chu Han on the spot.
Chu Han let out a soft hiccup, the corners of his mouth curling upward. Blue lightning, as thick as a forearm, crackled and wrapped around his body. He sensed that the Second Elder had reached the peak of the Dao Palace realm. However, it was a recent breakthrough achieved through the use of elixirs, leaving his foundation unstable.
Chu Han was already at the peak of the Second Palace of the Dao Palace realm. With just a few more days, he could break through to the Third Palace. Dealing with this Second Elder would be child's play.
"Force me to run? You're not qualified. Song Yi is just trash. Leaving him alive was already an act of mercy on my part. Make your move; let's see what the elders of Samsara Valley are truly capable of."
Chu Han laughed, his mockery dripping with arrogance. He had disliked Samsara Valley from the very beginning. Since they chose to be so overbearing, he would simply have to be even more arrogant to put them in their place.
When the word "flee" crossed his mind, he couldn't help but think of the Nine Poisons Witch, Liu Qingli. That had perhaps been his first retreat since his rebirth. Although he could not defeat her, even if he could, he wouldn't have been able to bring himself to kill her. From the very start, he had been locked in a losing game.
Chu Han's arrogance completely enraged the hot-tempered Second Elder. The elder charged forward. Though his speed was not exceptional, his physical strength was immense, leaving a deep crater in the ground beneath his feet as he lunged. He thrust a flaming palm directly toward Chu Han.
Chu Han did not even spare a glance at the incoming fiery strike, his eyes filled with utter disdain. He casually raised his right hand, easily blocking the elder's palm. The ground beneath Chu Han's feet cracked and fractured, a testament to the immense force behind the Second Elder's blow.
Yet, despite this, Chu Han remained completely unfazed. Instead, he looked up at the Second Elder. "Is this all you've got? If so, you are dead today."
Chu Han snorted coldly and threw a left punch. Shocked, the Second Elder hastily retreated to dodge the blow. Although he hadn't used his full strength just now, it was still seventy to eighty percent of his power. He had not expected Chu Han to block his attack so effortlessly.
"Do not be so arrogant! Killing you is as easy as turning my palm. Blazing Fire Burning the Heavens!"
The Second Elder roared, raising both hands toward the sky. Instantly, countless fiery red clouds gathered overhead, and a barrage of fireballs began to rain down from them in a bizarre spectacle.
"Now this is somewhat interesting."
Chu Han nodded in satisfaction. Only now did the Second Elder's strength finally catch his eye. The lightning crackling across his body gathered entirely into his right fist. "Qilin!"
A massive Qilin formed of lightning materialized in the air, its colossal body resembling a small mountain. Its crimson eyes glared with ferocious intensity as it unleashed a silent roar toward the Second Elder.
The falling fireballs were all blocked by the Qilin, unable to harm Chu Han in the slightest. The Qilin then charged forward, striking the Second Elder with a heavy paw. The immense force sent the Second Elder flying, and the clouds in the sky instantly vanished.
Coughing up blood, the Second Elder struggled to his feet, trying to launch another attack. However, Chu Han would not give him another chance. The Qilin lunged in front of him and struck his chest once more, instantly caving in his ribcage.
The Qilin then dissolved into a current of crackling lightning that wrapped around the Second Elder. With a series of loud pops, the Second Elder lost consciousness. The battle had ended in a decisive, suspense-free victory for Chu Han.
As Chu Han swept his gaze over the remaining disciples of Samsara Valley, they stared back at him in sheer terror. They scattered and fled in an instant, though they did not forget to hoist the unconscious Second Elder onto their shoulders as they ran, terrified that Chu Han might pursue them.
Chu Han stood quietly in place, having no urge to give chase. Just as he turned to walk away, a figure appeared before him. It was Leng Ye.
"Brother Chu, I didn't expect you to be so powerful now! You actually defeated the Second Elder of Samsara Valley. You are amazing!"
Leng Ye had been watching the fight the entire time. Seeing Chu Han face off against the Second Elder of Samsara Valley, she had been deeply worried and had even thought of returning to Nine Immortals Island to ask her master for help. However, after seeing Chu Han block the Second Elder's attacks so easily, she had finally put her worries to rest. Now that the battle was over, she rushed forward to congratulate him.
