“Fine, then I’ll take this. Let’s go.” Chu Han smiled faintly, pocketed the item, and led Duanmu Meng’er outside. She was still in shock, unable to fully react.

Chu Han had found a path to wealth. It was extremely difficult to find a piece of Thunderstruck Wood outside, yet every disciple of this small sect carried one, let alone those from the larger sects.

However, he wouldn’t attack them recklessly. His mission was to obtain that one thing—though he still didn’t know exactly what it was—so he wouldn’t disrupt the plan by acting rashly. But if anyone foolish enough dared to make a move against them, he wouldn’t hold back.

The two arrived at a hall where most of the people had gathered—at least a dozen sects represented. Clearly, this was a dead end, and everyone was discussing how to find an exit.

Chu Han didn’t join the discussion but observed his surroundings carefully. Having entered the burial tomb of the Five Thunder Sovereign before, he knew this place was far from simple. The walls were plain earth, nothing special, but he sensed a peculiar aura.

Suddenly, the jade pendant on his chest emitted a dazzling spectrum of colors, startling him. The sudden glow drew the attention of everyone around.

“Sorry, I got a little too excited just now and lost control. Do what you need to do and ignore me,” said a voice filled with jade-like clarity. Chu Han was furious, wanting to strangle her. He hadn’t wanted to draw attention, yet this woman had pushed him into the spotlight.

Before he could scold her, those nearby slowly closed in. Duanmu Meng’er stood by his side, her gaze cold and unwavering.

“You there, take out what’s on your chest. I’ll allow you to join the Heavenly Silkworm Sect as an outer disciple. Understand this: not just anyone gets in,” a scarred man sneered, his face twisted with disdain as he looked at Chu Han. The other Heavenly Silkworm disciples stepped forward.

Yet the others remained silent, making no immediate move. They wanted to see the strength of Chu Han and Duanmu Meng’er, as well as the power of the Heavenly Silkworm Sect. Regardless of who won, they planned to intervene eventually.

Chu Han was enraged by their repulsive arrogance. He didn’t want trouble, but they clearly saw him as an easy target. If he didn’t teach them a lesson, he’d be unworthy of the title of Sovereign.

“Heh, I’ve never cared for the Heavenly Silkworm Sect. Even if you begged on your knees, I wouldn’t join. Go where it’s cooler and stop bothering me—or don’t blame me if I get rough,” Chu Han snorted coldly. His dignity as a Sovereign would not allow him to endure endless provocation. Duanmu Meng’er said nothing, instead squeezing his hand in silent support.

His words enraged the Heavenly Silkworm disciples. The scarred man’s anger flared; he charged forward, leaping into the air and stomping down with immense force, his attack slicing through the air with a sharp whistling sound.

The other disciples quickly threw a rope, wrapping it tightly around Chu Han’s body several times to immobilize him.

The onlookers’ eyes flickered with anticipation. In their view, Chu Han was doomed. The Heavenly Silkworm Sect’s greatest strength lay in their leg techniques, and with Chu Han bound, their attack was aimed straight for his head. It was a death trap.

But what happened next stunned them. A faint smile curled at the corner of Chu Han’s lips. Before the attack landed, he flexed his arms violently, tearing the rope apart. The ropes snapped into fragments, and those holding them fell to the ground.

Chu Han then raised his head and struck the scarred man’s foot with a single punch. A loud crack echoed as the man’s right leg shattered. He fell, clutching his broken limb and howling in pain. The crowd glanced sideways, shocked by Chu Han’s strength.

Though they were all experts from major sects and didn’t believe they couldn’t defeat him, they knew the fight would be complicated. The Chinese were torn between wanting to seize the treasure on Chu Han’s chest and hesitating to act recklessly.

Chu Han grimaced and strode over to the fallen scarred man, delivering a brutal punch to his face. The ground shattered beneath the impact, forming a massive crater. The man’s skull was pulverized, buried deep within the pit.

The remaining Heavenly Silkworm disciples were terrified, trembling uncontrollably. Chu Han stepped before them and said, “If you don’t want to die, hand over the valuable item quickly. Or this will be your fate.” He pointed to the lifeless body of the scarred man, his voice sounding as if it came from the depths of hell. The disciples were so frightened, they nearly wet themselves.

They hastily produced all their valuables. Someone searched the scarred man’s body and handed Chu Han two pieces of Thunderstruck Wood. Chu Han nodded in satisfaction.

Still, he wondered—surely not all of these people practiced lightning-based cultivation. Why would they carry so much Thunderstruck Wood?

“When Fire Dragon Valley spread the news, they said that some treasures in the treasury required Thunderstruck Wood to unlock. So almost everyone brought some. Each sect had at least one piece. Whether this is true or not, I don’t know, but everyone believed it,” Duanmu Meng’er whispered beside him.

Chu Han finally understood. Since everyone carried Thunderstruck Wood, he stood to profit greatly. Though it was precious outside, among the great sects it wasn’t rare; each sect had collections and could easily spare a few pieces.

“You’re going too far. Though his words were harsh, killing and robbing the Heavenly Silkworm Sect’s treasures is unacceptable. I advise you to return what you took. Leave some dignity for yourself; we might meet again someday,” an old man stepped forward, scolding loudly. Others around him joined in, condemning Chu Han.

Chu Han was sickened by their sanctimonious faces. If they weren’t coveting his belongings, why else would they accuse him? It was all about profit—there was nothing more to say.

“Enough. Even if I refuse to return it, what can you do? Come at me all at once if you dare. You think I’m afraid?” Chu Han said coldly. The crowd fell silent. He glanced at the old man before him. “Sorry, I’m not aiming this at you.”

The old man thought Chu Han had relented, but the next words ignited their fury.

“I’m not targeting any one of you. I’m saying that all of you here are trash.”
