Chapter 160: Finger of Nirvana
It turned out that Pomegranate still had a trick up his sleeve. The white light shooting from his sword finger became increasingly dense and rapid. Damn it, this was practically a laser gun! Even though Kuiba possessed blinding speed, it was still a physical entity. Under Pomegranate's laser sword finger, escaping would be as difficult as a mosquito dodging death. In mere moments, Kuiba's body was riddled with countless holes, from which viscous black liquid oozed.
The black liquid covered the entire ground, and Kuiba's speed gradually slowed down. At this point, Kuiba looked entirely like a bleeding monster, bearing no resemblance to its previous arrogant and invincible self! Pomegranate continued to unleash his laser sword finger. I sat cross-legged on the ground to initiate self-healing. Truth be told, recovering in the cross-legged position was indeed much faster. This was a tip my master had taught me. No wonder masters in television dramas always sat cross-legged to meditate and circulate their internal Qi after sustaining injuries.
Qin Tian had only suffered minor injuries, allowing him to sit up shortly after. However, he did not dare move around casually, choosing instead to remain seated with his head ducked as low as possible. This was because Pomegranate's laser beams kept firing continuously, whistling past right above my scalp. Kuiba finally could no longer hold on and abruptly dropped to its knees. Seeing the opportunity, Pomegranate walked right up in front of Kuiba, extended his sword finger, and unleashed a barrage of laser beams directly into its chest.
The laser beams shot into Kuiba's chest one after another like bullets from a submachine gun. Kuiba's chest was reduced to a bloody mess, transforming from the initial honeycomb-like tiny pores into a hole the size of a rice bowl. The laser attack lasted for nearly a full minute, and Kuiba's body was completely pierced through by the beams, suffering a thorough and deadly core-to-back penetration.
Kuiba's body crashed heavily to the ground like a pile of rotting meat, with not a single intact spot left on it. Pomegranate stopped his laser attack, and my broken spine was largely repaired. I stood up from the ground and walked over to Pomegranate. "Pomegranate, I have to hand it to you. Since you had such a tyrannical ultimate move, why didn't you use it earlier?"
Qin Tian also walked over at this moment and chimed in, "Exactly! If you had used it sooner, we wouldn't have been in such a pathetic state. Brother, that wasn't very kind of you."
Ignoring our remarks, Pomegranate focused intently on the prostrate Kuiba and said to the two of us, "Let's get out of here before it regenerates! It will be too late if we delay!"
"What? This thing isn't dead yet?" Qin Tian wiped away his smile and looked in shock at the heap of rotting flesh on the ground. Realizing that the situation might not be as simple as it seemed, and knowing Pomegranate had more to say, I raised a hand to stop Qin Tian from asking further questions.
Suddenly, Pomegranate swayed as if about to faint. I hurriedly stepped forward to support him and asked, "What's wrong with you?"
Pomegranate shook his head and offered a bitter smile. "You two don't understand. It's not that I didn't want to use this Annihilation Finger, but using it once drains all of my physical strength. No matter how long passes, my stamina cannot be recovered in a short time. Furthermore, this Kuiba possesses an undying body that grows stronger when facing adversity. Every time it is knocked down, it falls unconscious for a period, but when it wakes up, its power becomes even more terrifying!"
Growing stronger through adversity and possessing an undying body! What kind of sick joke was this? Was there any way for people to survive? Why did we keep running into these abnormal freaks? Where on earth did this Kuiba come from, and why was it in league with Chu Jun? I scratched my head in deep thought for a long time, completely unable to make sense of it.
"Qin Tian, how did you manage to chase it away last time?" I suddenly remembered how Qin Tian had arrived in the nick of time to save me previously. Since Qin Tian claimed he had chased Kuiba off, he must have a way to keep it in check.
Taken aback by my question, Qin Tian didn't react immediately. "Huh? Last time... let me think..." He scratched his head and lowered his gaze, struggling to recall.
I asked Pomegranate, "You knew this Kuiba couldn't be killed, yet you still used that laser finger technique?" I felt the term "laser sword finger" was more fitting anyway, as it genuinely resembled a laser.
With a pale face, Pomegranate replied weakly to me, "If I hadn't used this move, the three of us would likely have become this monster's food within moments! While it hasn't recovered yet, we'd better leave immediately!"
I told Pomegranate, "Wait a little longer, just a moment. Let Qin Tian think of a way to restrain Kuiba and find its weakness. Even if we can't destroy it, at least we won't be in such a sorry state the next time we encounter it!" I wasn't sure if my decision was right or wrong. What if Qin Tian couldn't come up with a solution? What if Kuiba had simply happened to be injured and no match for Qin Tian last time? My decision could end up dragging everyone down with me! But I was willing to take a gamble. If Kuiba woke up before Qin Tian figured out a way, I would hold it off myself. My body could regenerate automatically; although it wasn't strictly immortal, as long as I didn't suffer catastrophic damage, I wouldn't die.
Pomegranate gave a noncommittal nod. For some reason, despite having never met him before, Pomegranate had helped me multiple times. Why was he treating me so well? Qin Tian paced back and forth, still failing to come up with a countermeasure after quite a while. I shouted at him, "Damn it, hurry up! If you can't think of anything, stop wasting everyone's time and let's run!"
Just as I finished speaking, the pile of rotting flesh on the ground began to writhe. Qin Tian looked from the prone Kuiba to me and said, "Old Li, you're right. Let's run!"
"Damn it! You really can't think of anything?! Why didn't you say so earlier? Take Pomegranate and go first, I'll cover the rear." I shoved Pomegranate toward Qin Tian and gathered a protective barrier, facing Kuiba head-on.
After taking the Constitution-Consolidating Pill, the capability of my protective barrier had naturally improved significantly. It shifted from its previous translucent state into a nearly transparent energy shield. Without looking closely, its existence was completely undetectable. Did a protective barrier eventually become completely invisible once its power reached its absolute limit?
Without wasting words, Qin Tian hoisted Pomegranate up and leaped out of the massive pit in a single bound. Kuiba hoisted itself completely upright from the ground. Its previously wounded body had fully recovered, and the viscous black liquid coating it had solidified into a thick crust that tightly sealed its entire frame, making it look like a wax figure melted by intense heat.
Deep within Kuiba's sunken sockets, its eyes flashed with a crimson light. The eyes that Qin Tian had previously blasted apart were now undamaged, sitting right where they belonged. The very instant Kuiba opened its eyes, a stabbing pain shot through my body, churning my internal organs violently. A sweet taste rose in my throat, and a stream of fresh blood trickled down the corner of my mouth as my legs went weak, causing me to drop to my knees.
I raised my head to look. Kuiba's entire body radiated an eerie red glow, and even its pitch-black hair had turned the color of fresh blood. The surrounding air heated up rapidly, making me feel as though I had been plunged into a sea of fire, unbearably scorching!
Just as I tried to move, Kuiba's body materialized right in front of my eyes. In the blink of an eye—without me even seeing how it moved—a tight grip closed around my throat, and my body was involuntarily hoisted into the air by Kuiba.
