Chapter 17: The Beautiful Divine Physician
Lan Yue carried me, struggling step by step along the street. At that moment, Iron Hammer spotted the petite figure and hurried over.
"Lan Yue, what's going on? What's happened to Brother Yunfei?"
"Quick, help me take him to the Divine Healer," Lan Yue said urgently.
"Brother Li, wake up! You can't die—I won't let you die."
"Don't worry, Little Sister Lan. Brother Yunfei will be all right."
"Little Sister Lan, Misty Forest is just ahead. Wait here for me; I'll go find the healer. Without her assistance, we can't get inside." Iron Hammer placed me on a large stone as he spoke.
"Be careful," Lan Yue said.
"You'll be all right, Brother Li," Lan Yue murmured, gently caressing my face. At that moment, a warm tear slid from Lan Yue's eyes and landed squarely between my brows. As soon as the teardrop touched my brow, it vanished, leaving behind a stabbing pain. It felt as if someone was tearing open my forehead with their bare hands; the agony was unbearable. I distinctly sensed a swirling black mark emerging between my brows. At the same time, the flesh there receded rapidly, revealing a dark hole in the center of my forehead. Lan Yue, terrified, pressed her hands tightly over her mouth. Moments later, the hole disappeared, leaving a shallow, whirlpool-shaped mark. I slowly opened my eyes.
"Brother Li, you're awake! You scared me so much." Lan Yue flung herself into my arms.
I gently wiped the tears from the corners of her eyes. "I'm fine. Sorry to make you worry." At that moment, I did not know how to comfort the woman before me.
"Let me see your foot." I placed Lan Yue's foot gently on my leg and lifted her robe. Unexpectedly, Lan Yue did not resist but shyly turned her head away. Suddenly, she withdrew her foot from my leg—Iron Hammer was approaching, carrying a woman dressed in purple.
"Murong, the Divine Healer?" Lan Yue exclaimed.
"What, she's the healer? She fainted at the edge of the cliff, so I carried her out. Hey, Brother Yunfei, your injury..." Iron Hammer asked.
I stood and stretched my limbs. "I'm already healed."
"Why do you always recover so quickly?" Lan Yue asked, her large, luminous eyes fixed on me.
"And what was that black hole between your brows just now?"
Iron Hammer now noticed the mark as well. "Brother Yunfei, why is there a black mark between your brows?"
"I don't know either. Let's take a look at this young lady first."
I pressed my middle finger to the woman's wrist, checking her pulse—everything was normal. Then I pressed my thumb to the center beneath her nose, applying pressure several times. Gradually, she regained consciousness. "Who are you..."
"I am Li Yunfei. These are my friends, Lan Yue and Iron Hammer," I said, cupping my hands in greeting.
"Thank you for saving me." Murong Xue smiled faintly, then her expression turned cold.
"Why have you come to Misty Forest?"
"We came to seek your help, Divine Healer, hoping you could save my friend. But now, it seems we no longer need your assistance," Lan Yue replied.
"In that case, I'll be on my way," Murong Xue said, about to leave. Suddenly, she turned and stared at me for a long moment before murmuring something cryptic: "Could it be him..."
Who was she referring to? Was it me? I doubted it—we had never met before. Since my injuries were healed, it was time to return to Fenglan City. The martial arts tournament would be held tomorrow; I ought to find Chen Yu, that mischievous girl. Unexpectedly, my quest for healing ended in saving the legendary Divine Healer. It seemed my body truly possessed the ability to recover on its own. On the way back, I supported Lan Yue while Iron Hammer led the way. Inside Fenglan City, the bustle had returned. In front of the martial stage, Chen Yu was registering participants.
"You two go on ahead; I have some things to attend to," I said to Lan Yue and Iron Hammer.
Lan Yue followed my gaze to Chen Yu and smiled gently. "All right, remember to come back soon." But her smile was so forced that it reminded me of Xu Qinghuan. I wondered how she was doing now. Unconsciously, it had already been five days since I left them. I hurried over to Chen Yu, who, without looking up, asked, "Name? Cultivation level? Where do you live?"
"Li Yunfei, intermediate martial artist, Earthling," I replied, enunciating each word.
"Brother Fei, it's you! What brings you here?" Chen Yu greeted me as cheerfully as ever. Perhaps she was better suited for this world; nothing seemed to faze her. Unlike me—after only a year or so, I had experienced more than in over twenty years in the twenty-first century. Everything felt like a dream. Just hours ago, I was teetering on the edge of life and death, and now here I was, chatting with Chen Yu as though nothing had happened.
I shook my head and sighed softly. "I'm not here to see you—I'm here to sign up."
Chen Yu, caught off guard by my answer, froze.
"Get in line for registration," she said flatly.
"I'm teasing. I came to see you, and also to sign up," I replied.
"You're so annoying. Wait a moment; there are only a few left. Today isn't busy, just over a dozen," Chen Yu said.
Half an hour later, Chen Yu helped me fill out the registration form, and together we headed to the nearest restaurant. The food and drink in this world were both excellent. The wine—who knew how it was brewed—was so rich and fragrant that I couldn't help but drink a few more cups, leaving me feeling light-headed.
"Have you heard? Ye Yun, the head of the Ye family, hired a Martial God-level expert to go to Misty Forest."
"A Martial God expert?"
"That's a legendary figure!"
"What are they doing in Misty Forest?"
"I heard they're seeking Divine Healer Murong Xue."
"This will be interesting." The nearby tables were crowded with people, all chattering at once.
"I heard the Ye family spent a lot of money this time—not only to hire Murong the Divine Healer, but also to search for someone."
"Who?"
"Apparently, it's the person who fought with the Ye family's son last time."
Looking for me? Hmph! Even if you don't seek me out, I'll come find you. I drained the cup of aged wine in one gulp.
