29. Medicine Purification Machine
Soon, Ye Feng retraced his steps and returned to the surface, carefully moving the wine back to its original place as Bad Bad had instructed. Once everything was settled, Ye Feng walked to the door and pressed his ear against it, listening intently. The surroundings were silent, not a sound to be heard.
“There’s no one around. You can go out safely,” Bad Bad’s voice suddenly sounded, startling Ye Feng.
“Are you trying to get me killed? You nearly scared me to death,” Ye Feng cursed inwardly.
He slipped out of the cellar with utmost caution. The Luo family’s estate was still bustling with people, so he didn’t dare leave through the main entrance—his plain attire would draw too much attention there. Instead, he chose the back door, the same one he and Luo Ming used to sneak out for fun in the past.
Compared to the main entrance, the back door was much quieter, usually used by the family’s servants. With the holiday upon them, most of the staff had gone home, leaving only a handful of those with nowhere else to go. Luckily, at that moment, no one was around, and Ye Feng seized the opportunity to slip away from the Luo estate.
The streets were sparsely populated. To avoid suspicion, Ye Feng didn’t hail a cab but walked the winding back roads to his ancestral home.
Back at the ancestral house, Ye Feng collapsed onto the sofa. The trip to the Luo family had yielded great gains, but his heart had endured considerable strain. If the Luo family discovered what he’d done, there’d be nowhere left to run—he’d never survive.
After a brief rest, Ye Feng began to worry about where to stash what he’d brought out. The underground chamber of the ancestral home couldn’t fit it all, and it was far too risky; who knew if someone would eventually discover the hidden room?
No matter how he pondered, Ye Feng found no solution. It wasn’t easy for him to acquire another property now, not knowing whether Michael still had people watching him. His only available ally was Wang Siyuan, but in his current state, Wang Siyuan certainly couldn’t show his face in public.
“Bad Bad, is there any way to permanently alter someone’s appearance without others noticing?” Ye Feng could only ask Bad Bad, trusting that he’d provide a satisfactory answer.
“You want to give Wang Siyuan a new face, right?”
“Just tell me the method—I need it urgently.” Bad Bad’s roundabout way of speaking was starting to grate on Ye Feng.
“There’s a potion called Lotus Elixir, which can permanently change one’s appearance. With the medical technology of this era, it’s impossible to detect.”
“How’s it made? Is it difficult?”
“It’s easy for you. Among the herbs you took from the Luo family’s underground vault, you have enough to make several pills.”
“After taking the Lotus Elixir, can one revert to their original appearance?”
“No. Why, do you want him to change back?”
“Not him. I’m asking if you can revert. Why do you ask so many questions?”
“No! If you only want temporary transformation, there’s another simpler pill, the Morphing Pill, which is popular at future parties.”
“Tell me more about this Morphing Pill!”
“The Morphing Pill lasts for five hours, allowing you to transform into anyone you can imagine. No side effects, and it’s easy to prepare.”
Ye Feng felt much more at ease after hearing Bad Bad’s explanation. According to Bad Bad, Wang Siyuan would recover in a couple of days after the medicine, and be ready to be sent out. But this brought Ye Feng to another worry—Wang Siyuan’s loyalty.
“Bad Bad, is there anything that can make Wang Siyuan absolutely loyal to me?”
“Yes, the Loyalty Pill. Once he takes it, he’ll be faithful to you for life.”
There really was everything, Ye Feng thought. “Is there anything for invisibility?”
“Yes…”
“What about walking through walls?”
“Yes…”
“Murder and arson?”
“Yes…”
“How much more useful stuff do you have?”
“All of it is useful for you!” Bad Bad’s tone dripped with disdain.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner!” Ye Feng was annoyed.
“You never asked…” Bad Bad drew out the last syllable mockingly.
“Fine, you’re something else. Hurry and give me the formulas for the Lotus Elixir, Morphing Pill, and Loyalty Pill.”
“They’ve already been transmitted to your mind—you just need to think about them and you’ll know. But knowing the formulas isn’t enough; you also need a pharmaceutical purification machine. Otherwise, you’ll never be able to make these.”
“How do I get such a machine? I doubt I can buy anything from your era in this age.”
“With this era’s medical technology, the pharmaceutical purifier is barely adequate, but you certainly can’t buy one. However, I have a simple method: you can assemble a highly efficient purification machine without raising suspicion.”
“Just tell me, don’t waste my time.”
“Buy some electronics and assemble them yourself. What you need is already transmitted to your memory.”

To avoid seeming suspicious, Bad Bad’s shopping list consisted entirely of common household appliances—LCD TVs, refrigerators, washing machines—all the latest models.
Looking at the long list he’d compiled, Ye Feng realized he’d practically included every household appliance. If it hadn’t been Bad Bad’s list, Ye Feng would’ve thought someone was playing a prank.
Without delay, Ye Feng placed the order online. Although it was the holiday season, “Haoyu,” the nation’s largest chain appliance retailer, operated year-round, with warehouses everywhere and next-day delivery in all major cities. Ye Feng’s was a large order, so by ten o’clock the next morning, three medium-sized delivery trucks were parked outside his ancestral home.
An hour and a half later, the house was filled with empty boxes, with all the appliances unpacked and installed. Although Ye Feng didn’t want them installed—he’d have to dismantle them anyway—it would have looked strange not to, so he endured the inconvenience to avoid arousing suspicion among the delivery and installation crew.
Once everyone had left, Ye Feng checked the time—it was nearly noon. He filled his stomach, knowing he’d soon be busy with strenuous work.
After rummaging through the boxes and drawers for suitable tools, Ye Feng set to work. With effort, he dismantled all the solar power units, cooling systems, large screens, automatic temperature regulators, and other components from the new appliances.
Ye Feng wasn’t a destructive maniac, but Bad Bad’s instructions for the manufacturing process were precise—the circuit boards needed for the purification machine came from these various devices. Of course, the parts required modification to fit together.
Though the components were mismatched and Ye Feng lacked experience, Bad Bad’s guidance made the process simple. With Bad Bad teaching him step by step, even a novice like Ye Feng could manage.
After four hours of hard work, Ye Feng finally assembled the purification machine. Still, he felt uneasy—he was no mechanic, and though he followed Bad Bad’s instructions exactly, who knew what might go wrong?
He connected the main power and flipped the switch. The home’s electric meter spun like it had grown wings, and Ye Feng grinned when the test indicator lit up yellow, meaning the machine was assembled and functioning.
Turning off the power, Ye Feng laughed heartily. Apparently, he was a genius after all.
With the machine ready, Ye Feng tried making a Morphing Pill. It took only ten minutes to produce one. Bad Bad analyzed it and, though it didn’t achieve the pill’s full effect, it should allow transformation for three hours—enough to excite Ye Feng. He found the idea of changing faces fascinating, so while his interest was fresh, he used all the Morphing Pill materials to make five pills in total.
After finishing, Ye Feng hid the machine in his bedroom. Although there were ingredients for the Lotus Elixir in the ancestral home, other required materials weren’t available, so he’d have to buy more.
Checking the time, it was already four thirty. Based on past experience, pharmacies typically closed at five during the first three days of the New Year, so he probably couldn’t buy the needed herbs now.
Ye Feng had to set aside his urge to try the Morphing Pill immediately. Going downstairs, he saw the house littered with dismantled parts and ruined appliances. The sight gave him a headache—disposing of all this junk would be a problem. He’d have to stash it in the hidden chamber.
After a short rest, Ye Feng began preparing dinner. In high spirits, he cooked a feast to reward himself, and brought some food to Wang Siyuan. Bad Bad’s medicine had worked wonders; Wang Siyuan’s injuries were mostly healed, though he was still weak from lack of nutrition. Seeing Ye Feng bring food, Wang Siyuan ignored manners and devoured the meal—his recent ordeal had been the worst of his life, and just thinking about it made him shudder.
Ye Feng glanced at Wang Siyuan, then turned and left the passageway. He’d intended to say something, but realizing he’d give Wang Siyuan the Loyalty Pill anyway, he found it unnecessary.
After Ye Feng closed the passage, Wang Siyuan finally looked up. He’d thought a lot over the past few days, even considered escape, but no matter how he tried, he couldn’t find the exit. He’d have to wait until he got out to make a plan. Though the mysterious young master promised a bright future, Wang Siyuan didn’t want to be manipulated—who knew if this master was just like the Ai family? Better to rely on himself.
Night fell outside, enchanting and beautiful. Ye Feng gazed at the moon in solitude, lying on his bed, thinking of the past—his parents, his years of hardship, the woman who betrayed him, so many memories, ending with a sigh. All of that belonged to his previous life; Ye Feng knew it was time to let go.
