The following week passed quietly. Ye Feng spent his days at home, cultivating his internal energy, rarely stepping outside. Only when a week had gone by and his house was out of groceries did he have to venture to the nearby supermarket to restock. But as soon as he stepped outside, he noticed several pairs of eyes trailing him.

Sensing this, Ye Feng reacted instantly. With a swift movement, he made his way toward the large supermarket, arriving within five minutes. The bustling crowd served to muddy the pursuers’ judgment, and Ye Feng quietly positioned himself behind the cashier counter.

Soon, the group of stalkers emerged from the shadows, craning their necks as they searched for Ye Feng.

“Just these few idiots think they can deal with me? They're really underestimating my abilities. Which fool sent them after me?” Ye Feng muttered under his breath. He was just about to step out to teach these small-time thugs a lesson and figure out who was behind this, when he noticed several police officers standing not far away. The two groups were close, but obviously out of place among the shoppers. Ye Feng immediately saw something was amiss—the officers exchanged several meaningful glances, clearly questioning why Ye Feng hadn't been found yet.

“This is ruthless. Who set up this trap? Are they trying to get me killed?” Ye Feng’s mood soured at once.

It was indeed a vicious and cunning plan: use a few fools to create a conflict with Ye Feng, then have the police swoop in and haul everyone to the station for interrogation. Once inside, anything could happen.

“My scan shows they belong to a gang, the second most powerful in Haifeng City. These are just small fry, though. We don’t know exactly who’s after you, only that their boss took money to target you. As for the police, they’re only here to cooperate with the gangsters on orders, and interestingly, they’re from the North District, not Xu Wen’s precinct. Whoever wants to take you down must have serious influence. It's not hard to guess who—it’s not like you've made a lot of enemies,” the mischievous voice in his head said.

“You mean Bai Weiqi is behind this?” Ye Feng immediately thought of Bai Weiqi, a man with a powerful family background.

“He’s the most likely candidate. What do you plan to do?” the voice asked, clearly pleased with Ye Feng’s composure.

After a moment’s thought, Ye Feng deliberately revealed himself. The thugs and police spotted him at once and began to follow. Ye Feng led them to the underground parking lot, where one of the thugs lunged at him. Ye Feng dodged deftly, sending the man sprawling to the ground.

Seeing this, the six thugs quickly surrounded him. “Hey, kid! You bumped into someone!”

“What? No, I didn’t,” Ye Feng feigned fear. “Please, brothers, let me off.”

His pathetic act drew sneers from the six thugs. Did it really take all of them to deal with someone like this? Any one of them should have been enough. “What, you don’t want to pay up for bumping into someone? Hand over some money for medical bills, or else…”

“Alright, since you’ve asked so nicely, I’ll pay, I’ll pay!” Ye Feng pretended to fumble nervously with his wallet, which was bulging with cash. He pulled out a single one-yuan coin, tossed it on the ground, and grinned. “Here’s some spare change. It can’t be easy for you guys.”

The six thugs were instantly enraged. To them, Ye Feng’s gesture was nothing short of an insult and a challenge.

The leader waved his hand and barked, “Boys, teach him a lesson!”

These six young men were truly out of luck. They thought that even if Ye Feng could fight, he couldn’t take on all of them. But Ye Feng was no ordinary man—while his strength wasn’t monstrous, he was certainly not someone these street punks could handle. Noting that none of them was armed, Ye Feng didn’t wait for the thug to finish his sentence. With a bang, he sent the leader flying with a kick, leaving him sprawled on the ground, unable to get up.

Strike first and gain the upper hand; strike last and suffer the consequences. The six thugs were stunned. What just happened? Six against one, and he actually dared to fight back?

Ye Feng showed no mercy. In just a few punches and kicks, he had all six of them groaning in pain on the ground.

The two police officers behind them were frozen in shock. They had never imagined that what should have been an easy takedown would end like this—completely the opposite of what they’d expected. They stared at Ye Feng, eyes wide, as if they were seeing a monster.

The six thugs struggled to their feet and tried to call for reinforcements, but Ye Feng knocked them down again. Grabbing the leader, Ye Feng slapped him across the face several times—left, right, left, right—until both cheeks were equally swollen, lending his chubby face a strangely endearing look.

Ye Feng spat on the ground, cackling. “Trying to play tough with me? You call yourselves gangsters? Pathetic! You disgrace the noble profession of hooliganism!”

At this point, the police stepped in. “What’s going on here?”

“You’ll have to come with us. We suspect you of assault,” the overweight officer said, flashing his badge righteously.

Ye Feng thought to himself, as expected. “Officer, you’ve got it wrong. They tried to extort and gang up on me. I was just defending myself.”

“Do you take us for fools? Not a scratch on you, but you’re saying they attacked you? You clearly beat them up! Now come with us!” The fat officer reached out to grab Ye Feng, but he slipped easily out of reach.

Ye Feng sneered. “Fine, I’ll come with you. No need to get handsy.”

Just then, Ye Feng’s phone rang. Seeing that it was Luo Ming, he answered without thinking, but before he could speak, the call was abruptly hung up.

“Sorry, but you can’t make calls right now. Please cooperate and come to the station with us,” the overweight officer said coldly, forcibly ending Ye Feng’s call. He had no intention of letting things get complicated; as long as he brought Ye Feng in and handed him to Captain Wang, his job was done. Who knew what trouble a phone call might stir up?

Noting the officer’s unfriendly expression, Ye Feng raised his eyebrows, growing more curious about what treatment awaited him at the station.

He said nothing more as another officer pulled up the police car. Ye Feng got in obediently, eager to see what would happen next.

But Ye Feng wasn’t stupid. Ever since he’d taken that phone call in his dream, he’d realized he didn’t need a phone anymore. That mischievous voice could use any number to reach anyone, even imitate other people’s voices. Wonderful.

After getting into the squad car, Ye Feng quietly instructed the mischievous voice to call Xu Wen in his own voice, to see if he could get things sorted out, and to have him bring people to the North District station. He was determined to find out exactly who was behind all this.

Now, Ye Feng was ready to repay any grudge and settle every score!
