Soon, the vehicle arrived at the provincial police headquarters. As soon as he got out, Zhao Dabao hurried over to Ye Feng and said, "Sorry, Director Xu, this whole incident was just a misunderstanding. We’re willing to take full responsibility, including any legal consequences."

Zhao Dabao confessed so readily, and to everyone's surprise, Ye Feng also broke with his usual demeanor and stated, "We were just fooling around. Let’s resolve this privately—no need for legal action."

Ye Feng’s attitude left the surrounding armed police bewildered. They had almost been killed just moments before, and now he seemed as calm as if nothing had happened. They truly couldn’t fathom what this young man was thinking.

Seeing Ye Feng speak up, Xu Wen naturally had no objections.

In the end, the matter was settled amicably. Since everyone maintained the same story that it was merely horseplay, the police only detained Zhao Si for a week on charges of disturbing public order, and later Zhao Dabao bailed him out. As for the issue of illegal possession of firearms, the two bodyguards took full responsibility. How they managed to escape punishment was no concern of Ye Feng’s; they were mere pawns, and anyone working as muscle should be prepared to take the fall from the very beginning.

After leaving the police headquarters, Zhao Si, still oblivious to his situation, mocked Ye Feng, "Hey kid, why aren’t you so arrogant now? Who do you think you are, daring to challenge my dad!"

His words were grating, but Ye Feng couldn’t be bothered to argue—someone else would handle him.

Smack!

Zhao Dabao slapped Zhao Si hard across the face, making his already swollen cheeks even fatter. "You little brat, if Ye Feng hadn’t shown you mercy, you’d still be locked up. Yet you’re still acting cocky, always causing trouble. If I’d known you’d turn out like this, I should have let you hit the wall when you were conceived!" He shoved him forward. "Go apologize to Ye Feng!"

Zhao Si was stunned by his father’s sudden change. Was this really the man who always doted on him? Now he was being forced to apologize to his adversary.

"Ye Feng, I’m sorry. I was wrong!" Though unwilling, Zhao Si understood that Ye Feng was not someone he could provoke. A wise man doesn’t suffer unnecessary losses. He wasn’t a wise man, but he certainly didn’t want to suffer today.

"Be careful next time. Hai Feng may not be as prominent as Yan Jing, but it’s still a place full of hidden talents. There will always be someone you can’t afford to offend. Next time, even your father won’t be able to help you," Ye Feng admonished coldly.

After a few polite words, Zhao Dabao took Zhao Si away.

Having refused Zhao Dabao’s invitation, Ye Feng watched the father and son drive off, then remembered he still hadn’t bought his car. Frustrated, he checked his watch—there was still time to visit another dealership. Today, he was determined to get a car.

He raised his hand to hail a taxi, but instead, a Maserati approached from a distance. Ye Feng paid it little mind, thinking it belonged to some rich kid passing by, but the car stopped right in front of him.

The door opened, and an acquaintance stepped out, smiling—Huang Quanlu.

Ye Feng wasn’t sure what Huang Quanlu wanted, so he decided to have Bad Bad scan Huang’s memory to see what he was up to.

But something happened that shocked Ye Feng.

Bad Bad’s memory scan was usually quick, but this time Ye Feng received bad news.

"Ye Feng, there’s something wrong with Huang Quanlu. He has unusually strong mental abilities. I’d barely started scanning his memory when he noticed," Bad Bad complained.

"How can he notice when you scan?" Ye Feng asked, surprised.

"Why wouldn’t he? I’m not a god."

"Did you finish the scan?"

"No, I only got a tiny bit."

"Anything important?"

"I found something quite significant—this Huang Quanlu is an impostor! And he’s been pretending for ten years."

"An impostor? How could he manage that for ten years without being discovered?"

"Ten years ago, Huang Quanlu was kidnapped. The person who orchestrated the kidnapping did it to replace him, but that’s all I know," Bad Bad replied, their conversation completed in Ye Feng’s mind in an instant.

"Ye Feng, I heard you’re out to buy a car today?" Huang Quanlu gestured for him to get in.

"Yes, though I didn’t expect to run into such troublesome affairs," Ye Feng replied, deciding to accept the ride and see what Huang’s intentions were.

"Do you have any particular model in mind?" Huang asked as he started the engine.

Ye Feng noticed the car wasn’t heading toward any dealership. "Not yet. Do you have any recommendations?"

"Oh?" Huang’s lips curled into a smile. "It’s getting late. Why don’t we have a meal first? Afterward, I’ll accompany you to select a car."

"Then I’ll gratefully accept your hospitality," Ye Feng said, feeling a bit hungry himself.

The car drove for nearly half an hour, leaving the city and winding through a mountain valley, eventually stopping in front of an ancient palace-style building. Stepping out, Ye Feng looked up at the grand entrance, where a rustic plaque hung, bearing the words "Sovereign Club" in bold calligraphy. Though Ye Feng knew little about the art, even he could sense the power and grandeur in those characters.

"I’ve never heard of this club," Ye Feng muttered under his breath. Huang Quanlu happened to hear him and replied, "Ah, this is a place for those rich playboys to indulge in refined pleasures. Since Luo Ming isn’t one of them, he wouldn’t bring you here. It’s normal you haven’t heard of it."

The words were casual, but the implication was clear—he was probing whether Ye Feng was aligned with Luo Ming.

Ye Feng played dumb, laughing it off.

They sat in a private room, its atmosphere especially elegant. After some polite back-and-forth, Ye Feng ordered a few house specialties, and they began to chat idly.

The food arrived quickly, and Ye Feng and Huang Quanlu talked at length about their families.

After several rounds of drinks, Huang Quanlu began to address Ye Feng as a brother.

"So, Ye Feng, what are your plans?" Huang’s face was flushed, appearing somewhat tipsy.

"What plans could I possibly have? I just want to live quietly as an ordinary person," Ye Feng replied, easily seeing through Huang's act, and even if he couldn’t, Bad Bad certainly could.

"Ye Feng, you still don’t trust me. I can see you have big ambitions," Huang feigned indignation.

"Huang, even if I did, what would it matter? This is an era where everything depends on your family. My parents are gone, and even if Luo Ming helps me, at best I’ll be a small-time boss. Dreams and ambitions are just nonsense," Ye Feng pretended to be dejected.

"Ye Feng, you’ve got it all wrong. Didn’t Ouyang and the others stand by you that day? You can definitely make it. By the way, you seem to have a good relationship with them," Huang probed.

"It’s nothing special. We’re all from Hai University, just acquaintances at school. Maybe it’s because Bai Weiqi is such a scoundrel that they helped me," Ye Feng replied, half-truthfully.
