67. The Four Brothers (Part Two) (Upcoming Release—Please Add to Your Library and Recommend!)
“Come, raise your glass and drink—once you finish this cup, we’re brothers from now on. From today forward, we share honor and disgrace, standing shoulder to shoulder. I, Huang Luan, may not be of much use, but I am the eldest son of the Huang family from the southeast. If anyone here is ever short of money, just say the word. If I, Huang Luan, so much as frown over it, may the heavens strike me down with thunder and cast me into eternal damnation, never to be reborn.” With those words, Huang Luan threw back his drink in one gulp.
“I’m not as rich as Huang, but if anyone dares bully my brothers, I, Ye Feng, will fight for justice even at the cost of my own life.” Ye Feng’s declaration rang out with conviction as he drained his cup.
“I won’t say any more. I’m from the Qin family in the northwest. Whatever you do in the future, the Northwestern Military District will always be your strongest support.” Qin Qiong drank his blood-red wine as well.
When it was Wu Tian’s turn, he lifted his cup and paused for a moment. It wasn’t that he didn’t want to form this sworn brotherhood, but he wasn’t sure how to phrase his oath. After thinking it over, he decided to be straightforward and said, “What I want to say is, whatever you do, if you come to Yanjing, I guarantee your safety.”
He finished, raised his cup, and drank. Then he added, “At this point, I might as well be honest. I am the grandson of Wu Lunyan, the sole heir of the Wu family.”
At these words, apart from Ye Feng, the others were visibly shocked. They had never imagined that such a powerful figure had been hiding beside them all along. They knew Wu Tian might be from the Wu family, but never guessed he was the only heir.
“By the way, should we decide on an order among us?” Huang Luan suddenly suggested.
“Let’s just stick with the original order,” Ye Feng replied.
“All right then.” Seeing that the youngest had no objections, Huang Luan dropped the matter.
“So, little brother, how about you tell us about your relationship with the eldest Miss Ai? You seemed pretty anxious to rush to her rescue.” Wu Tian, the eldest, wasn’t as steady as he appeared; his eyes sparkled with gossip.
Hearing this, Qin Qiong and Huang Luan grew interested as well, and all three stared at Ye Feng without blinking.
Ye Feng saw their expressions and knew there was no escaping today. So he recounted his story with Amy from childhood up to that night, and finally, summoning his courage, even mentioned what happened that night.
“What! You’re not a virgin anymore?” Huang Luan exclaimed in mock shock.
“What’s so strange about that? Are you all still virgins, gentlemen?” Ye Feng replied nonchalantly.
“Don’t include me! I’m the real deal—a bona fide virgin,” Huang Luan shot back immediately. “My theoretical knowledge might be impressive, but if you actually gave me a woman, I probably wouldn’t know what to do. I never studied the culture of the Land of the Rising Sun.”
Ye Feng stared at Huang Luan in surprise, then turned to look at Qin Qiong.
Seeing Ye Feng’s gaze, Qin Qiong hurriedly said, “Don’t look at me. I’m still a virgin too. You know how strict it was growing up in the military compound.”
Ye Feng was even more astonished and finally pinned his hopes on Wu Tian.
Wu Tian didn’t directly admit to anything; he tactfully replied, “Youngest, you know, with so many eyes on me as the heir, so…”
There was no need to finish. Ye Feng’s mind went blank: How did I suddenly become the odd one out? Didn’t you all used to brag about your conquests every night? How did you all turn into virgins all of a sudden? Are you even real virgins? Back when we hit the bars together, you were all over those girls—why didn’t you say you were virgins then? Damn it!
Ye Feng didn’t continue the conversation, as a mischievous reminder told him Amy was about to wake up.
“I’m done talking with you guys. I’m going to check on Amy—she should be waking soon.” With that, Ye Feng entered the hospital room, leaving the three “virgins” behind.
Nestled quietly under the covers, Amy’s long lashes fluttered gently, as if she was beginning to wake…
At this moment, Amy wasn’t fully conscious yet. Images from the previous night flashed through her mind. Although she had been affected by ketamine and her memory was hazy, she could vaguely recall a few things—remembering that she sensed something was wrong, but it was too late and her consciousness faded. In the haze, she only remembered being held in someone’s arms, and the scent on that person was both familiar and deeply comforting…
At last, after some more fluttering, her long lashes parted. Bright eyes opened slowly, quietly surveying her surroundings, until she saw the warm hand she had been holding tightly all along.
She turned her head further and saw the one who always made her feel conflicted—Ye Feng—sitting by the bed, smiling at her.
“Why are you here? Where is this place?” Amy’s first words upon waking.
“This is the hospital. I happened to be at the KTV last night, so everything’s fine now.” Ye Feng gave her the reassurance she needed most.
Amy didn’t know what to say. Ever since that night, the two had been in a cold war, and she hadn’t expected Ye Feng would be the one to save her. The situation was awkward.
But the awkward atmosphere was soon broken as Ai Zhongtang entered the room with several people. “Amy, are you all right?”
He sounded genuinely concerned.
“I’m fine, Dad,” Amy replied weakly.
“That’s good. If there’s nothing wrong, let’s go home. The conditions here are poor.” With that, Ai Zhongtang signaled his men to bring a wheelchair.
Before Amy could answer, Ye Feng spoke up. “Uncle Ai, Amy’s still not fully recovered. It’s better for her to finish her IV before heading home.”
“She can have the IV at home just the same. Thank you for today, Ye. But what happened is a family matter—stay out of it.” He was determined to take Amy home.
Everyone present understood what Ai Zhongtang meant—most likely, the Bai family had already pressured him. But Ye Feng had no intention of letting the Ai family bury the matter.
“Uncle Ai, Amy is your daughter! Are you afraid?” Ye Feng’s voice was low and heavy.
“What do you mean by that? Ye Feng, you’re meddling too much!” Ai Zhongtang was angry now; he felt he’d already been more than polite to this orphan.
“Uncle Ai, since you said that, I won’t be courteous either. I don’t care what the Bai family told you. If you as a father can’t seek justice for Amy, then as her friend, I will do what you should have done!” Ye Feng’s words, though indirect, were a clear accusation of Ai Zhongtang’s irresponsibility.
“What? Did I hear you right? Ye Feng, who do you think you are to meddle in my family’s affairs?” Ai Zhongtang was now furious, roaring outright.
Suddenly, a voice rang out, “Ai Zhongtang! Who gave you the right to yell at my brother?”
