Dragon Roaring to the Heavens
In the end, Huaihuai decided to tell Amy and the other women about Ye Feng’s condition. As expected, they rushed anxiously to where Ye Feng was, only to find him as lifeless as a corpse—his brainwaves barely detectable.
“Huaihuai, what happened? Wasn’t he fine when you left?” Amy asked urgently, panic evident as she looked at Ye Feng’s state.
“It’s all my fault. I gave Ye Feng a powerful tonic, but it was too much. Now his condition is very bad,” Huaihuai replied, head lowered in guilt.
“Why does Ye Feng have no heartbeat or breath?” Ye Shihan observed closely and asked directly, her own anxiety growing.
“He’s been like this since earlier. His brainwaves are still there, just very weak. The situation is very strange,” Huaihuai answered truthfully.
“Get Long Xuan out here to ask him!” Ouyang Lanlan demanded.
“With things as they are, let’s get Ye Feng back to the base first. I think he’ll be alright,” Huaihuai said softly, knowing full well he was to blame.
“Then hurry, time is precious,” Ye Shihan urged.
The women moved quickly, bringing Ye Feng back to the base and placing him in the intensive care unit once again.
Ye Xiaofeng and Ye Shize were soon brought over. Seeing Ye Feng lying in the hospital bed, Ye Xiaofeng exclaimed in surprise, “What happened to Brother Feng now? Wasn’t he already better?”
“There was an accident. Just take out the Celestial Dragon Core,” Huaihuai instructed.
“Oh.” Ye Xiaofeng followed Huaihuai’s direction and took out the Celestial Dragon Core.
“Sweetheart, go ask Little Dragon to see what’s happened to Daddy,” Ji Ludan said gently, carrying Ye Shize toward the core.
Seeing the anxious faces of his many stepmothers, Ye Shize skipped his usual playful antics and simply placed his hand on the Celestial Dragon Core.
This time, Ye Shize and Long Xuan spoke for a long while.
After about ten minutes, Ye Shize finally withdrew his hand and said, “Little Dragon says he doesn’t know what’s wrong with Daddy either, but he assures everyone not to worry—Daddy won’t die.”
“Sweetheart, did Little Dragon say when Daddy will get better?” Ji Ludan pressed.
Ye Shize only shook his head in response.
No one was sure if Little Shize didn’t know or simply hadn’t asked, so Ji Ludan followed up, “Did you not ask, or does Little Dragon not know?”
Ye Shize replied, “Little Dragon doesn’t know either. He said Daddy ate something with immense energy, but not to worry—Daddy’s body can digest it. It’s just a matter of time.”
Relieved by Ye Shize’s words, the women all breathed easier, as did Huaihuai, who had truly feared he might have killed Ye Feng.
“Thank goodness,” Huaihuai exclaimed in awe.
“And you still have the nerve to talk? What did you give Brother Feng?” Amy snapped, a rare show of temper.
“It was a rare tonic, very helpful for restoring his strength. I just didn’t expect it to be so potent,” Huaihuai explained weakly, though his words rang hollow.
Amy’s anger flared only briefly before she collected herself. Seeing Ye Feng lying peacefully, she turned and left—only her beloved little Shishu could distract her from thoughts of Ye Feng.
After a brief discussion, the other women decided to leave Ye Shihan behind to watch over Ye Feng, while they departed.
Huaihuai, somewhat dejected, said, “I’m truly sorry.”
“It’s not all your fault. You can’t be expected to do everything right. As long as Ye Feng is okay, that’s what matters,” Ye Shihan replied sadly. Perhaps it was her time in the Dragon Group that made her the most rational among them; she understood this wasn’t solely Huaihuai’s responsibility.
“Let’s hope Ye Feng wakes soon,” Huaihuai said.
“Yes. Don’t be too hard on yourself. Didn’t Little Dragon say Ye Feng will be fine? It’s just a matter of time. For now, focus on developing the cavern—there are still 1.5 billion people waiting to settle here. When Ye Feng wakes, the thing he’ll want most is to see these people living in peace. That’s what all his hard work has been for,” Ye Shihan said, her tone tinged with sorrow.
Though Amy was Ye Feng’s first woman, Ye Shihan understood his journey best—she knew just how much he had borne over the years.
“I’ll start designing right away,” Huaihuai said, disappearing at once.
Ye Shihan settled beside Ye Feng, gently stroking his cheek as tears began to fall silently.
…
Far away in the depths of the universe, on Celestial Dragon Star, the clan had been searching for Long Xuan ever since his mysterious disappearance. It had happened so abruptly that no one had time to react, and thus, they had no means of tracking him. Who would have thought that Little Long Xuan would end up on Earth, billions of light-years away?
Whenever a Celestial Dragon is born, their parents place a soul imprint within themselves. Thus, they knew Long Xuan was alive, just not where he was. After so many years of fruitless searching, they gradually gave up—knowing he lived was enough. Celestial Dragons live long lives; surely, one day, they would see him again.
But after Long Xuan aided Ye Feng’s healing, they sensed his soul had grown much weaker, sparking new panic. Long Xuan was in mortal danger; otherwise, his soul’s strength would not have dropped so drastically.
Long Xuan’s parents, Long Xiaotian and Long Yunfeng, were determined to find him. Long Xiaotian’s father, Long Zhenyu, was the clan chief.
Long Zhenyu had forbidden them from acting alone—for the Celestial Dragon Clan were considered rare delicacies by other races, and it was all too easy to be hunted down when traveling alone. It was hard enough for Celestial Dragon couples to have children, so Long Xiaotian and his wife couldn’t bring themselves to obey. They secretly captured a guard from the Chilong Clan, learned their whereabouts, and set off for Earth.
Fortunately, after a period of weakness, Long Xuan’s soul stabilized, so Long Xiaotian and his wife were less frantic. Still, their curiosity about the Chilong Clan’s actions drove them to continue to Earth as planned.
…
Life had become bitter for Angus. After days of searching with no results, things only got worse. Having destroyed 70% of the plains on Earth, food was now critically scarce—desperately so. With winter’s early arrival, there weren’t enough clothes either. Though Angus cared nothing for the fate of ordinary people, his subordinates and the Chilong needed sustenance—especially the latter! Earth’s culinary culture was exquisite, and the Chilong had grown fond of it. But with nothing to eat, Chilonghuo threw tantrums every few days.
