Lu Han’s face darkened as he tapped the Evil Wind Beast, thinking to himself, "You certainly know a lot!"

In truth, what the Evil Wind Beast said was a fact. Initially, Lu Han had intended to shake off the mysterious woman; after all, no one wants a stranger following them indefinitely. However, not long after leaving, Lu Han had fallen into despair, as the mysterious woman remained stuck to his heels, impossible to shake off.

Lu Han had no choice. He couldn't beat her in a fight, he couldn't lose her, and she wouldn't answer any of his questions along the way. Eventually, he simply gave up and kept his mouth shut. For reasons unknown, the typically restless Evil Wind Beast had also become much quieter throughout the journey.

"Hmph, so they only met halfway? Could it be just because this brat is a Xiantian-realm martial artist? Why hasn't something like that ever happened to me, Wu Yong? But it's not too late now. Once we reach the Beast Town, even if you’re a dragon, you’ll have to coil up for me!" Wu Yong thought viciously.

Seeing that the mysterious woman possessed no cultivation, Wu Yong assumed Lu Han was merely escorting her home. In reality, Lu Han was no match for her; it was just that her aura was masked by something, making it impossible to see through. Perhaps if Old Man Ling were awake, he might have caught a glimpse of the truth, but unfortunately, after obtaining the *Soul Refining Scroll*, the old man had declared he was going into secluded meditation and wouldn't be coming out.

After Lu Han finished speaking, Wu Yong ignored him entirely. He sat down at the square table, striking what he considered a dashing pose, and asked the mysterious woman, "Miss, where is your home? My father is Wu Qing, leader of the Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group and a profound Profound Sovereign powerhouse. I can have my father send some men, or I can personally escort you home. While this young brother here has decent cultivation, he is only one person, and there are plenty of people in my group far stronger than him."

Wu Yong smiled confidently after speaking. He was certain that such a stunning beauty would surely agree, as every time he invoked his father’s name in the Beast Town, he always got what he wanted.

Just as Wu Yong expected the woman to agree, an ill-timed voice interrupted.

"Guest, one order of braised flower pig trotters, one black wind wolf leg... Oh, it’s Young Leader Wu! I didn't notice you, please forgive me, Young Leader."

The waiter, who had been carrying the dishes, suddenly froze upon seeing Wu Yong at the table, his voice trembling with nervousness. Having spent so many years at the Beast Mountain Range, no one was unaware of Wu Yong’s infamous reputation. He knew better than to cross him. Casting a glance at the mysterious woman, the waiter seemed to realize something.

"Hmph," Wu Yong grunted dismissively, sounding annoyed by the waiter’s sudden appearance.

As for the other patrons, most shook their heads, and many felt a sense of pity. In their eyes, although Lu Han was young and already at the first stage of the Xiantian realm, the men around Wu Yong were all around the third stage, a testament to how much the leader of the Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group favored his son.

In truth, Wu Qing had no choice. He knew his son was a troublemaker, but having fathered him late in life, he indulged him in everything. Fearing for his son’s safety, he had assigned several core members of the group to act as his bodyguards. This ensured that even if he provoked a Xiantian-realm martial artist who had just arrived at the Beast Mountain Range, no harm would come to him.

Lu Han alone, at the first stage of the Xiantian realm, was no match for these men at the third stage, especially while burdened with a woman who possessed no cultivation.

"Sigh, such a beautiful girl, about to be ruined by that good-for-nothing," someone whispered regretfully.

"If you've got the guts, why don't you go save her? Maybe she'll fall for you," someone else retorted.

"Me? Don't even mention the Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group; I'm not even a match for those men right here. I'd like to live a few more years," the first person said, shrinking back.

"If you interfere in this, you'll be lucky to even walk out that door. Who doesn't know what kind of man Wu Yong is? It’s not like no righteous people have tried to intervene before, but what happened? They were found dead ten miles outside the town the next day, in a miserable state. Who wouldn't believe it was the Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group? Since then, look at how many people dare to get involved."

"Damn it! I don't have the strength, but if I did, I'd wipe out that damned Bloodthirsty Mercenary Group sooner or later." The man took a fierce gulp of wine.

"Forget it. Sweep the snow from your own doorstep and don't worry about the frost on your neighbor's roof. We don't even know when we'll die in the Beast Mountain Range and never return; we have no energy to worry about others." The other man laughed bitterly and took a sullen drink.

...

"Hey, Lu! I’m starving, Evil Wind Grandpa is about to die of hunger! Tell him to put the food down!" the Evil Wind Beast suddenly said, drooling. "I don't know how long it’s been since I’ve eaten food prepared by you humans. I really missed it."

"Waiter, put the dishes down," Lu Han said, looking up.

"Coming right up!"

As the waiter set down the dishes, his foot suddenly seemed to stumble. "Oof!" He leaned toward Lu Han, who quickly reached out to steady him.

"Are you alright?" Lu Han asked, his expression turning strange.

"I'm fine, guests, enjoy your meal." The waiter winked, though with his back to Wu Yong, they couldn't see.

The waiter then retreated. Lu Han touched his palm, feeling puzzled. The waiter hadn't stumbled at all; while Lu Han was steadying him, he had quickly traced a character onto Lu Han’s hand. Though it happened in a flash, Lu Han had managed to decipher it.

"Leave!"

The waiter had written the word quickly and signaled for them to get out as fast as possible.

"Finally!" The Evil Wind Beast slithered from Lu Han’s arm onto the table and began to ravenously gnaw on the black wind wolf leg.

Some of the onlookers grew suspicious. "Eh? I don't know what kind of serpent that is. It actually eats black wind wolf leg? That's interesting."

"Indeed. But it’s just a Post-Xiantian-realm beast; it's useless. Probably just that young man's pet," another remarked.

These people frequented the Beast Mountain Range and were quite experienced. They often saw people lucky enough to catch beast cubs and raise them. However, most people wouldn't bother with low-level beasts because raising one to adulthood required a vast amount of beast pellets or rare treasures, which was too difficult.

People were only willing to invest in high-level beasts, as they would gain a powerful bodyguard. They had never seen anything like Lu Han’s companion. Although they couldn't identify the species, the Evil Wind Beast lacked the aura of a high-level beast, and looking like a common low-level snake, they naturally assumed it was just a pet.

"Evil Wind Grandpa is furious! I want to eat them! No, wait, I don't think I can beat them right now. Hmph, weak humans, I won't lower myself to your level. By the way, this wolf leg is delicious."

The Evil Wind Beast opened its mouth wide and devoured the rest of the black wind wolf leg. Lu Han stared at the beast in confusion, "That... it’s all gone?"
