Chapter 138: A Gift for the Fans
Sam's Sports continued.
"Alright, Coleman, I admit your analysis makes sense. Now, could you predict the final outcome of this series? Oh, and by the way, what about Lin Ming's points? How many points do you think he will score tomorrow night?" Sam asked another question.
"I think the final score of this series will be 4-1. In the upcoming games, the Cavaliers won't give the Knicks any chance!" Coleman rubbed his forehead and continued, "As for Lin's points, I strongly agree with that reporter's view from earlier. Last night's game was just a fluke. In the next game, Lin's points will definitely not exceed 10!"
"Another 10 points?" Sam shrugged. "Coleman, you should know that the reporter named Swift has already lost and is going to kiss a donkey's ass. So, if Lin Feng scores more than 10 points in tomorrow night's game, what are you going to do?"
As a veteran talk show host, Sam would naturally never miss such an opportunity to create buzz and gimmicks.
"I know what you want me to say!" Coleman shrugged with an indifferent expression. "No problem! As long as Lin Feng scores more than 13 points in tomorrow night's game, I will also kiss a donkey's ass!"
"13 points? Didn't you just say 10 points?" Sam asked.
Coleman rolled his eyes at Sam. "I have to admit that guy's three-pointers are somewhat accurate. Once the game enters garbage time again, that guy can pad his stats with three-pointers once more. Therefore, I think 13 points is a reasonable score."
"Alright, haha, good luck to you. I hope Lin's scoring tomorrow night turns out just as you wish." Sam smiled. Whether it was 10 points or 13 points, the show just needed a gimmick.
Watching Coleman on the television, Lin Feng curled his lip. "Another one who wants to kiss a donkey's ass. I really don't understand why these Yankees have such a peculiar fetish..."
"However, since he likes it, I'll just satisfy him!"
Lin Feng turned off the TV and then logged into Weibo, which he hadn't checked in a few days.
If he hadn't logged in, he wouldn't have known. The moment he opened Weibo, Lin Feng was practically scared shitless. In just the dozen or so days since he arrived in America, his Weibo followers had skyrocketed by several million, breaking the ten-million mark to reach 13.78 million. Judging by this momentum, it wouldn't even take two days to surpass 15 million.
Meanwhile, the comments under Lin Feng's latest Weibo post had already flooded past the 990,000+ mark, long since breaking one million.
This level of popularity was comparable to that of a first-tier celebrity.
The comments under Lin Feng's Weibo posts were also all over the place, generally falling into five categories: the first showered praise on Lin Feng; the second cursed the Basketball Association; the third urged Lin Feng to quickly release new songs; the fourth inquired about the marriage between Lin Feng and Qin Ruolin; and the fifth begged for perks. According to tradition, every time followers increased by one million, there should be perks, and Lin Feng already owed several rounds of perks...
As Lin Feng browsed through the comments, he wondered what kind of perks he should give away.
Lin Feng was currently a penniless loser; he certainly couldn't afford anything too expensive. Thinking it over and over, he could only resort to the old routine: give away jerseys—the game-worn, unwashed jerseys from last night's match!
However, just giving away a single jersey seemed a bit too little, especially since he already owed several rounds of perks...
Just as Lin Feng was racking his brains over the perks, his phone rang. It was Qin Ruolin.
"Are you asleep?" Qin Ruolin's soft voice came through once the call connected.
"Not yet! I was actually planning to sleep, but look, I just got looked down upon by an expert again!" Lin Feng smiled.
"You really can't stay quiet no matter where you go!" Qin Ruolin chuckled softly. "By the way, didn't that reporter who bet with you the day before yesterday lose? Why is someone else still walking right into the line of fire?"
"The tree desires silence, but the wind refuses to stop. Actually, I just want to be a quiet, handsome man!" Lin Feng sighed.
"Hehe~ You're so funny, a 'quiet, handsome man'!" Qin Ruolin giggled. Judging by her tone, she seemed to be in a good mood.
"Alright, anyway, it's not the first time you've been doubted. You even survived the Basketball Association's ban, so what are you afraid of regarding doubt!" Qin Ruolin said.
Lin Feng smiled. "That's true. Actually, I was just chatting with you to vent. Doubt me? Isn't that just waiting around to get your face slapped? These Yankees didn't even bother to ask around what my nickname is..."
"You even have a nickname? How come I didn't know?" Qin Ruolin took him seriously.
"My nickname is the Slap-in-the-Face Expert!" Lin Feng smiled triumphantly.
"The Slap-in-the-Face Expert?! Pfft..." Qin Ruolin burst out laughing. However, upon careful recollection, this moniker really suited Lin Feng quite well. Slapping Wang Chunsheng in the face, slapping the Beichen Team in the face, slapping Zhou Ziqian in the face, slapping the Basketball Association in the face, slapping everyone who doubted him...
Along the way, Lin Feng had indeed been delivering all sorts of face-slaps.
"Fine, Slap-in-the-Face Expert, congratulations on successfully slapping faces again yesterday. I watched the match, though it was a rerun. Seriously, I'm about to become your fan," Qin Ruolin said half-jokingly and half-seriously.
"I thought you were already my fan!" Lin Feng said.
"Pfft~! Wanting to make a fan out of me is not that easy!" Qin Ruolin gave a coy huff and continued, "Actually, I called you because there is a serious matter."
"Oh, there's a serious matter? You're not planning to collect rent, are you? I haven't even stayed in that villa for many days!" Lin Feng wailed about being poor. "Landlady, please give me a few more days..."
"It's a serious matter. If you keep being unserious like this, I really am going to collect rent!" Qin Ruolin said with feigned anger.
Lin Feng smiled. "Okay, okay, Queen Qin, please go ahead."
"In a week, I have a concert in Beijing. Auntie Guo just called me and said she wanted to go, asking if I had tickets. I couldn't find a way to refuse, so I had to agree. I felt it was necessary to give you a heads-up," Qin Ruolin said softly.
"Auntie Guo is... my mom??" Lin Feng was somewhat startled.
Qin Ruolin let out a soft "Mhm."
"She wants to go to your concert? What kind of play is this?" Lin Feng was very puzzled.
"By the way, what date is your concert?" Lin Feng asked.
"Next Sunday, the 17th," Qin Ruolin replied.
"Alright, I get it. I'll ask her what's going on later. However, since she wants to go, I suppose I won't be able to stop her," Lin Feng said.
"I didn't mean that I don't want Auntie to go, and I've already set aside her ticket. It's just that there will surely be many media members at the concert venue on the day of the show, and if they snap a photo of Auntie Guo, there's no telling what kind of news they might write. I just wanted to give you some mental preparation," Qin Ruolin said.
"Hih, is that all you were worried about!" Lin Feng was amused and said nonchalantly, "Whatever they were going to write has already been written, and whatever was going to spread has already been spread. I'm actually curious what other tricks those media outlets can pull out of their hats."
"As long as you don't mind. I was just afraid it might affect your relationship with that President Shen," Qin Ruolin's tone sounded somewhat strange.
"How come that sounds a bit sour to my ears?" Lin Feng bantered. "Queen Qin, I think you've already become my fan."
"Pfft~! Such nerve!" Qin Ruolin snorted coldly. "It's very late, get some rest early. Good night."
"Wait." Lin Feng called out to stop Qin Ruolin, who was about to hang up.
"Anything else?"
"Um, there is a little something." Lin Feng ingratiated himself with a smile. "Queen Qin, could you leave me a few tickets for your concert?"
"You're coming too?" Qin Ruolin asked in surprise.
"I probably can't go; the games here aren't over yet," Lin Feng said with a smile. "However, a few friends of mine really want to go."
"How many do you want? The tickets I have at my disposal are really very, very few..." Qin Ruolin said.
"Ten isn't too many, eight isn't too few," Lin Feng said.
"Pfft~! Ten or eight, you say. I can only give you six," Qin Ruolin said with a pout. "It's not that I'm stingy; the concert tickets sold out long ago. The ones I can give you are all floor seats, which were originally meant to reward fans who have supported me for years. Now I can only give them a few less and compensate them next time..."
"Alright, six is fine! Hehe, thanks in advance!" Lin Feng continued, "Um, Queen Qin, since you're doing a good deed, can you go all the way? Tomorrow I'll send you the addresses of those friends of mine, and I'll trouble you to mail the tickets to them."
"Fine, I should have known better than not to call you, and now I'm out six tickets..." Qin Ruolin complained before hanging up the phone.
Lin Feng smiled. Six tickets to Queen Qin's concert, plus the jerseys—his fans would definitely be satisfied with these perks!
