Volume One: The Lich Calamity 237 Kua Fu Chases the Sun, His Body Becomes Peach Mountain
When Kuafu stepped outside, he found the scene before him truly harrowing. The earth was cracked and parched, and the rivers had run dry. As he looked up at the sky, he was stunned to see ten suns hanging in the firmament.
"You little demon brats! How dare you come to my Wu clan's territory and run wild? This is absolutely outrageous!"
Seeing this, Kuafu quickly drew his wooden staff, intent on striking down the ten Golden Crows in the sky. His immense strength was far beyond what the Golden Crows could withstand; upon their first clash, the birds let out miserable shrieks as Kuafu struck them.
"Haha, look at this Great Wizard of the Wu clan—so big and clumsy, he’s a fool! He can’t hit us like this. As long as we fly higher, there’s nothing he can do!"
The Fifth Prince of the Golden Crows mocked Kuafu while speaking to the Eldest Prince, watching as the giant brandished his staff in pursuit. Whenever the Golden Crows saw Kuafu about to strike, they would quickly fly further ahead, teasing and leading him on. Occasionally, they would scorch him with their crimson Solar True Fire, but as the flames were not yet fully potent, it felt to Kuafu like little more than a tickle.
Yet, as Kuafu looked at the devastated land, his rage burned white-hot. With his staff in one hand, he swung relentlessly at the Golden Crows with the other.
"Ah! You wretched demon spawn, look at the calamity you have wrought! Look at what you have done to the Primeval Land!"
However, aside from the Tenth Prince, who kept trying to dissuade his brothers, the rest of the Golden Crows paid Kuafu no mind. Instead, they wantonly released their Solar True Fire, baking the earth until it hissed.
"Brothers, look at the land—we have ruined it beyond recognition! We should return to Yang Valley at once; if Father and the others find out, we will be punished again!"
"Enough, Little Ten. If you are worried, go back yourself. We have finally managed to come out for once; why shouldn't we enjoy ourselves? And look at that big oaf below—he’s being toyed with by us!"
The Golden Crow princes, currently reveling in their mischief, turned a deaf ear to the Tenth Prince's warnings. Kuafu, meanwhile, looked at the desolate, barren landscape as he continued to chase the birds away.
"Damn you, Golden Crows! Look at how you have ravaged the Primeval Land! Die, all of you! You have not only destroyed my Wu clan's tribe, but you have laid waste to the world!"
Kuafu raised his staff, preparing to strike them down and force them to pay for the countless innocent Wu clansmen and living beings who had perished. His voice boomed like thunder, so powerful that it shattered the formation of the Golden Crows. With the force of a mountain, his fist slammed toward the Eldest Golden Crow.
As a Great Wizard, Kuafu’s strength was so immense that its shockwaves rippled across tens of thousands of miles.
"You big oaf, you’re the one who should die! If it weren't for you, we wouldn't have nearly fallen from the sky so many times. Your Wu clan deserves to die anyway—so die! It would be better if you just perished along with them!"
"That’s right! You’re nothing but a Great Wizard; how dare you act so wildly in front of us, the ten princes? Who gave you the courage?"
Kuafu laughed in fury. He rained blows upon the Golden Crows with his wooden staff, forcing them to shriek and flee to ever greater heights and distances, while he pursued them relentlessly.
"Ignorant children, I will have your lives! You are truly arrogant. Even your father, Di Jun, would not dare speak to my Wu clan in such a manner!"
"If it were not for the fact that you are still young and immature, do you think I would let you live? Return to where you belong at once!"
"Big Brother, I think this fellow is quite formidable. Let’s just go back! Let’s stop being so headstrong!"
But having been confined to the Heavenly Court and Yang Valley for so long, they were not yet satisfied and had no intention of returning. Furthermore, stung by Kuafu’s words, they felt humiliated and decided to show the Wu clan their true power, unleashing even more violent Solar True Fire that engulfed Kuafu.
In moments, the earth began to melt into magma. Kuafu had no choice but to leap into any river he could find, only for the heat to boil the water dry in an instant. Seeing that they were unrepentant and growing even more vicious, Kuafu stopped holding back. He transformed into his true giant form, his power surging.
He wielded his staff, striking out at the birds. The Golden Crows, seeing this, could only dodge; with all ten brothers working together, their Solar True Fire grew even more intense. Realizing their attacks were having little effect, the Golden Crows flew rapidly toward the high east, with Kuafu in hot pursuit.
While Kuafu ran on the ground, the Golden Crows flew in the sky, constantly raining down fire. As Kuafu’s body grew larger, he became an easier target; sweat poured from him like rain, and the moisture and blood in his body began to dry up.
"Brothers, let’s burn him to death together with our Solar True Fire! He looks like he’s at his limit!"
Seeing Kuafu’s condition deteriorating, the Eldest and Fifth Princes incited their brothers. By now, many great beings of the Primeval World and other Great Wizards of the Wu clan had discovered the situation. Many of the great beings recognized the Golden Crows and, though they suffered under the oppressive heat, they dared not interfere, fearing retaliation from Di Jun. They could only pin their hopes on Kuafu or the other Wu clansmen.
Hou Yi and other Great Wizards had realized that Kuafu was at the end of his rope and were rushing toward him, hoping to save him.
"Keep going! This giant is almost finished!"
The Eldest Prince and his brothers converged their Solar True Fire to scorch Kuafu. By this point, Kuafu’s consciousness had begun to blur.
"Am I to follow the Father God now?"
As this thought crossed his mind, Kuafu, bathed in the relentless Solar True Fire, finally collapsed, unable to hold on any longer. Seeing him fall, the Golden Crow princes cheered and rejoiced, lost in their arrogance.
"Good! The big oaf has finally been killed by us brothers!"
Yet, they did not know the catastrophe that was about to befall them. Watching Kuafu fall, many great beings of the Primeval World felt a profound sense of disappointment, though they soon began to harbor new expectations.
"Kuafu!"
Upon seeing him fall, several Great Wizards were overcome with grief, their eyes splitting with rage as they glared at the Golden Crows in the sky. They had hoped to deal with the other Great Wizards just as they had dealt with Kuafu, but their schemes were ultimately thwarted.
When Kuafu’s body collapsed, it transformed into a towering mountain, tens of thousands of miles high and stretching for hundreds of millions of miles. The wooden staff he had held fell where he lay, transforming into a peach forest that spanned tens of thousands of miles, surrounding the mountain that Kuafu had become.
