Volume One: The Calamity of the Lich Chapter 177: The Wedding Chaos of the Sorcerer Tribe, Battles Unleashed in Turn
Just as the group was about to step into the Hall of Supreme Harmony, a multitude of voices suddenly rang out directly in the ears of the assembled mighty ones.
“Di Jun, I hear today is your grand wedding. The Wu Tribe has brought you a wedding gift!”
At that very moment, countless powerful beings witnessed several enormous bells soaring through the sky, their surfaces aglow with radiant white light, dazzling and brilliant.
No sooner had the words fallen than a cacophony of deafening crashes echoed as the bells smashed down in the very center of the grand hall. At the same time, bodies were hurled back into the hall, instantly torn apart and showering blood and flesh across the sky.
Witnessing this, Di Jun’s fury erupted. He sprang from the throne atop the Supreme Palace, rage seething from him. In one hand he held the Hetu and Luoshu diagrams; in the other, the Sun Essence Wheel.
“How audacious! Originally, I had no wish to draw blood today, but to think you would deliver yourselves to my door!”
Taiyi, too, swiftly produced the Eastern Emperor Bell. Two figures stepped forth from Di Jun and Taiyi’s side, quickly moving to stand before the Wu Tribe, blocking their way.
“Di Jun, you wretch, what are you but a petty thing? Were it not for our Wu Tribe’s disdain to deal with you, do you think you’d have survived to this day?
Not long ago, your Demon Tribe was quite arrogant, sending your quasi-saints to our lands and slaughtering many of our warriors. Today, we return your favor with a grand gift!”
Hou Yi and the other great Wu appeared within the grand hall, facing Di Jun and his kin without the slightest fear, as if they did not regard them at all.
At that moment, Geng Ning stepped forward, appearing at the side of the Wu Tribe.
“Oh? They say Buzhou Mountain and the Wu Tribe are as close as brothers. It seems you, too, intend to meddle in the feud between my Demon Court and the Wu Tribe?”
Di Jun’s expression chilled at Geng Ning’s sudden arrival, his face darkening as he spoke.
“No need to twist words here. Today, I act solely as an individual. You know full well what your Demon Tribe has done.
To force my White Tiger Clan to submit, you destroyed our ancestral land and exterminated our kin.
Don’t tell me you’ve forgotten so soon. Do you wonder why I appear here today?”
With that, Geng Ning gazed coldly at the assembled demons, Di Jun included.
Just as both sides seemed poised for battle, a razor-sharp sword energy suddenly flashed outside the hall, accompanied by countless screams.
“How could such a grand occasion proceed without this elder?”
A man appeared, exuding such a dense aura of slaughter that all who saw him were struck with dread.
“It’s you! We demons have searched for you for ages, never knowing where you hid. Today you walk right into our midst!”
But the newcomer replied, “Hide? Why should I hide? If not for you cowering in this Heaven, would I have needed to hide at all?”
“Fifth Elder!” Geng Ning cried out in shock.
From their words, Geng Ning now realized that Geng Ci had slain many among the Demon Tribe in recent days.
Geng Ci merely nodded to Geng Ning.
“Form the array!”
At that command, Di Jun and his kin flung the Hetu and Luoshu diagrams into the air, suspending them above the hall. The Primordial River Luo Grand Array instantly formed, trapping Geng Ning and all the Wu Tribe within.
“Manager Ao Qing, shouldn’t we help Young Master Gong Ning?” Mo Qingji and the others turned to Ao Qing with concern.
Ao Qing shook his head. “No need. They can handle themselves. Though the Demon Tribe is strong, they’re not yet able to annihilate them.”
He glanced calmly at the completed formation.
Within the array, voices rang out as well.
“Form the array!”
Hou Yi and the other great Wu responded swiftly. A dozen great Wu who had reached the level of Golden Immortals took their positions according to profound principles.
Geng Ning and Geng Ci each unleashed their full power—one’s sword energy soaring as if to cleave the sky, the other radiating an indomitable aura of metal.
Soon the Wu Tribe’s formation was ready.
“Converge!”
In an instant, the winds surged, the sky and earth darkened, and a colossal figure appeared within the array, towering as high as the heavens.
“What is that?” Di Jun and the others felt a moment of panic at the sight.
“Axe, come!”
The figure bellowed, and suddenly the Three Pure Ones sensed their own soul-treasures stirring, as if drawn to the call. They quickly suppressed them.
When, after three shouts, nothing happened, the giant conjured a phantom axe in his hand and brought it down upon the formation.
With that single blow, the array was utterly destroyed, disintegrating as if swept away by a storm.
The backlash from the shattered formation hurled Di Jun and his companions far away, battered by the shock.
With the array broken, the giant, still under the command of Hou Yi and the others, turned to strike the Hall of Supreme Harmony itself.
But at that moment, a sigh echoed in the ears of Hou Yi and his fellows.
“Ah, what nonsense!”
Immediately, they felt the laws governing their power slow and grow sluggish, while the giant vanished just as the phantom axe was about to strike the hall.
Seeing this, Hou Yi and the others quickly composed themselves and looked toward Di Jun and his kin.
“The grand gift has been delivered. We won’t be attending this feast. Let’s go!”
Jiufeng and the others swept their eyes challengingly over the Demon Tribe before striding away.
Geng Ci and Geng Ning exchanged a glance—Geng Ning looked at Ao Qing, then quickly followed after the Wu Tribe.
Ao Qing, for his part, had no objection.
“What was that aura just now?” Yuanshi and Tongtian both looked to the Supreme One, who nodded in understanding.
A gasp escaped them, shock and awe on their faces.
Meanwhile, in the Zixiao Palace.
“Qingxuan!” murmured Hongjun, his eyes unreadable.
Never had he imagined Qingxuan’s strength would be so formidable. In such a situation, even he could not have achieved the same. To cross countless spaces and dimensions, and so effortlessly influence a battle of such magnitude—such a feat was beyond compare.
After all, the phantom of Pangu summoned by Hou Yi, Jiufeng, and the others was already near the level of a fledgling Saint.
Back in Heaven, after the Wu Tribe and their companions had departed, Di Jun rose with a darkened expression.
“Everyone, now that the farce has ended, let us proceed with the true purpose of today’s gathering.”
Hearing his words, many of the mighty ones could not help but marvel inwardly.
Truly, Di Jun was a figure of rare caliber. To have his enemies disrupt his own wedding so brazenly, and still proceed with such composure—there were few in the entire world who could match such fortitude.
