Chapter 124: Thor; My Son

Just as planned.
Under the relentless pressure from Grommash, Nick Fury was once again forced to flee Antarctica with the remaining members.
This delighted Ross greatly!
What Nick Fury himself did not realize was that Roald had long known about his ability to summon Captain Marvel. The constant coercion was precisely to make him summon Captain Marvel.
Fury always believed he held this trump card, that he still had the upper hand. This was the confidence that allowed him to challenge the authorities so boldly.
As long as Captain Marvel could still be summoned, he had no reason to back down.
Because of Captain Marvel, Roald had always regarded Nick Fury highly and sought to compel him repeatedly to bring Captain Marvel back to Earth.
To this end, Roald prepared a large number of cards such as “Energy Drain” and “Mind Control,” aiming either to exhaust the energy from Captain Marvel’s tongue or to control her.
Once Captain Marvel was under control, the game could truly begin.
Roald had initially intended to control Nick Fury directly but did not know where Fury had hidden the signal transmitter, so he waited patiently for the right opportunity.
More importantly, Nick Fury had numerous safe houses. Over the years, he had continuously established these secure locations, maintaining many contact points worldwide.
Many were openly known, but Fury himself might not be certain of the exact number behind the scenes.
Therefore, Roald’s current strategy was to wait, gradually eliminating Fury’s safe houses one by one.
Every day, while incessantly nagging the wizards to wear down their spirits, Roald relentlessly executed his scheme of manipulation.
Kel’Thuzad’s “Cat Food Campaign” was ongoing daily. Sindragosa spent her days studying how to prepare various dishes, while Vykarn lived comfortably, constantly following Tony Stark’s tasting magazine, Mott.
The world seemed to have calmed once more.
A cause for celebration.
Meanwhile, in Asgard, after the Dark Elves’ uprising and Roald’s opportunistic interference, the vitality of the Celestial Palace suffered some damage.
Odin’s disappearance intensified the chaos. Their known strongest warrior was now enjoying retirement in a small community in Mexico. Thor seemed to have forgotten the troubles in Asgard and spent his days with Jane.
Sitting on the throne of Asgard was the man outwardly recognized as the king of Asgard, who in truth was not Odin but Loki, disguised as Odin!
After the Dark Elves’ rebellion, Loki assumed Odin’s identity and returned to Asgard. He had obtained the position he had long coveted from Odin’s hand.

Yet, after gaining the throne, he felt hollow and lost.
The crown did not seem to be what he truly desired. Although initially shocked and puzzled when Odin entrusted him with the kingship of Asgard, upon realizing Odin was not deceiving him, Loki found the throne less interesting than he had imagined.
Moreover, after entrusting everything to him, Odin immediately used his spear, Gungnir, to open the Bifrost and vanished, leaving Loki utterly bewildered.
He could not understand why Odin would just disappear like that—he was far from retirement age.
And handing the throne to him seemed so unreliable that Loki felt he had been tricked.
Though uncertain about the true situation, Loki took on the role of king amidst his suspicions. Thanks to Odin’s endorsement, Heimdall and the others in Asgard accepted his rule.
It seemed—everything fell into place naturally.
But the cunning Loki couldn’t shake his unease.
Though Asgard appeared to have regained its former glory, he always felt like the scapegoat.
Thus, he ordered all armies of the Nine Realms to concentrate in Asgard. No matter what disaster might come, the core of Asgard must remain secure.
Using his divination skills, though not as far-seeing as Odin’s, he glimpsed certain things.
For instance, Ragnarok—yes, Ragnarok.
The headgear of the fire giants and the eternal flame that would bring about Ragnarok had vanished from Odin’s treasury. This was no coincidence.
Odin, the Allfather, had already foreseen the future of Asgard and the Nine Realms. Though he could prophesy, he could not alter the course nor prevent the coming events.
Even with prophecy and preparation, the march toward destruction was unstoppable.
To face Ragnarok and matters concerning Asgard’s future, Odin passed the throne to the cunning Loki, perhaps hoping that Loki’s wisdom would guide Asgard, rather than letting Thor, the brawler, inherit the crown.
Perhaps the lack of punishment for Roald was also part of Odin’s plan and consideration.
Odin must have seen Thanos’s future clearly and perhaps intended for Thanos to join forces with Roald. Maybe he had other objectives, but no one knew exactly what preparations Odin had made.
Perhaps Hela’s return was part of his scheme.
Her appearance was too timely—she emerged right after Odin’s disappearance, and the sealing that imprisoned her was broken under strange circumstances.

Had Odin not permitted it, had he not wanted Hela to emerge, she would never have had the chance, even knowing his time was near.
But these matters were beyond Loki’s understanding.
Leaning on the throne, Loki watched himself tirelessly busy while Thor enjoyed time with his girlfriend, and he felt somewhat displeased.
Indeed, if Loki was unhappy, Thor would be made to share in that displeasure.
Transforming into Odin’s likeness, Loki communicated with Thor.
“Thor, my son.”
“I am here, Father.”
Posing as Odin, Loki spoke to the unsuspecting Thor.
“Thor, my son, I apologize for disturbing you at this time.”
“No, Father, all of this is for Asgard’s future. What new orders do you have?”
“Thor, my son, I have a new mission for you!”
“Father!”
“Thor, my son!”
Loki suppressed his inner excitement and smile, continuously deceiving Thor under Odin’s guise.
Heimdall, who observed and knew the full story, looked on speechlessly at their exchange, gaining a deeper understanding of Loki’s mischievous nature.
Yet, Loki’s kingship was sanctioned by Odin, and no one could change this fact.
“Thor, the Nine Realms have been restless lately. I have a mission I want to entrust to you.”
Once he had stirred enough emotion and reaped his gains, Loki solemnly issued the task to Thor.
