Chapter 131: Just Fast-Forward to You Two Getting Together Already
His beloved Mjolnir had been crushed by the sister who had suddenly appeared.
Thor was wounded and astonished. One had to understand that this was Mjolnir, one of the most powerful weapons in Asgard known to Thor. It had accompanied him through countless formative years and helped him overcome innumerable crises, yet it had been shattered just like that—crushed with bare hands! Thor felt as though his entire worldview had crumbled.
Loki’s mind was currently filled with question marks as well. He could not fathom what the deal was with Hela. The very thing he had hated and wanted to get rid of for so many years had been disposed of so easily? He had suffered quite a lot at the hands of Thor’s hammer.
However, seeing Rold appear, along with Kel'Thuzad behind him, Thor and Loki did not know whether they should be happy or depressed.
"Hey, man, I think there might be some misunderstanding between us." The two looked at Rold, who was leaning on his sword, and decisively tried to build rapport. One Kel'Thuzad was enough for them to handle; they certainly didn't need more trouble.
"Hey, Thor, who is this stylish guy?!" Quill looked at Rold, clad in armor, with surprise on his face. "His armor is really cool."
"Idiot, shut up!" Gamora gave Quill a sharp elbow.
Rold ignored the five-member band of misfits known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. If there was anyone among them he was interested in, it was likely only Groot and Hela.
"Lady Hela of Asgard, do you require any assistance?" Rold asked politely, bowing to Hela, who was watching him.
"Oh no, thank you. I think I can manage." Hela declined Rold's suggestion, and then long swords appeared in both of her hands. "Although I don't like those two, who are you? You shouldn't be Asgardian, and there’s this familiar... power?"
Hela looked at the group that had suddenly appeared, especially the aura of death surrounding them. She seemed slightly puzzled; after all, she was known as the Goddess of Death, and she felt that Rold’s vibe matched her own perfectly.
"Indeed. You are Death, and I am Death. Clearly, we are on the same side." In front of everyone, Rold raised both hands. Scourge soldiers spread out in layers behind him before kneeling in reverence. "I feel the same; I am also very interested in you. Now, I will give you a chance: put down your sword and be mine!"
Standing behind Hela, Thor and Loki looked at their suddenly appearing sister with expressions as if they had seen a ghost. They had crossed paths with Rold and his group more than once, and every encounter had been a crushing defeat. Their sister certainly had a bold heart.
The five members of the Quill group had been fed a massive helping of drama today, and they all cast curious gazes at Rold, wondering how he would respond to Hela's challenge.
"It seems you think just as I do! I’ll give you a chance as well: how about you be mine?"
At this, everyone’s gaze shifted to Rold. Curiosity!
Thor and Loki’s eyes darted back and forth between Hela and Rold. Why did they suddenly feel like these two were a perfect match? Rold had the aura of a grand boss, and Hela, having just crushed the hammer with one hand, possessed an equally imposing presence. Both were masculine and incredibly fashionable.
As he finished speaking, the battlefield naturally split into two sides. Compared to Rold, Thor and Loki felt that this sister who had suddenly appeared seemed easier to deal with—after all, she was their sister, and there was at least some connection there. The two Asgardian brothers and the five Guardians of the Galaxy stood obediently behind Hela. The scene was a seven-versus-seven-and-a-half standoff (Groot counted as half).
The two sides faced each other. Hela and Rold stood at the front, both leaders radiating light and intensity. The atmosphere was somewhat heavy. Sindragosa and the others standing behind Rold didn't feel much, but Thor, Loki, and the five Guardians behind Hela were very nervous.
Especially since neither of the two leaders spoke, as if they were communicating through telepathy; the longer the silence, the greater the tension, until their hearts were in their throats.
Just as they were about to reach their breaking point, Rold and Hela moved at the same time. Hela threw the two short swords in her hands directly at Rold. Rold raised Frostmourne to deflect them, then lifted his hand toward Hela.
"Oh my, I am very familiar with this energy." Hela looked at the power on Rold, her smile growing more pronounced. She flicked her wrists, and the two short swords reappeared in her hands. "Such surging death energy—this makes me even more interested."
Rold tilted his head slightly, spun Frostmourne in his hand, and then slammed it into the ground, causing a massive frost explosion. Hela moved her hands, and a multitude of short swords flew out from behind her cloak, a black tide rushing toward Rold. The two parties retreated.
Only Rold and Hela remained in the center, locked in a clash of energy. A massive amount of frost condensed in front of Rold, and numerous energy shields and layers of armor blocked Hela’s attacks. Hela had many short swords, but Rold had an endless supply of armor and shields created by the "True King" to withstand the assault!
"Are you going to just dodge without launching a counterattack?" Hela stopped her movements and looked at Rold, who stood leaning on his sword. "Or do you think you have the capability to resist my attacks? Why don't you just come with me to Asgard? Being a general would suit you well; my Death Legion is currently lacking a commander."
Hela's words left Thor and Loki not knowing what kind of expression to make. Why was their sister so fond of talking to herself? Loki subconsciously glanced at Thor; he felt that this habit of talking to oneself might be hereditary.
"Interesting. Why don't we change the terms? I wouldn't be opposed to agreeing to you, but only if you can actually pull it off!"
Rold's words made Thor and Loki want to complain even more. The guy who looked like a boss was actually agreeing to Hela's conditions. Only Thor froze, then stepped forward.
"Hey, hey, hey... you two, I am the first-in-line heir to Asgard. You should probably consider my opinion."
Hela and Rold looked at Thor simultaneously. Rold raised his sword at him, while Hela looked at Thor and said, "Sorry, we didn't quite hear you just now. Could you repeat that?"
Thor: "..."
*We* already? Are you two going to fast-track to a wedding next?
"Actually, you don't need to worry about my opinion." Having said that, Thor walked back to stand with Loki.
"Brother... welcome back." Loki looked at Thor with a smile.
"Oh, Loki, I'm back." Thor responded politely, decisively choosing to back down.
